NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – The state of Tennessee has taken another step to celebrate the Queen of Country Music ahead of her 80th birthday<\/a>. <\/p>\n

Gov. Bill Lee<\/a> signed a proclamation Friday that officially designates January 19, 2026, as \u201cDolly Parton Day<\/a>\u201d in the Volunteer State. A press release said the move is meant \u201cto honor the life, legacy, and extraordinary contributions of Tennessee\u2019s favorite daughter.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cDolly Parton\u2019s life and career<\/a> is woven into Tennessee\u2019s music, culture, and rich history,\u201d Lee said. \u201cHer talent and generosity have made a lasting impact on the world, and it is fitting that we honor her 80th birthday by celebrating her remarkable legacy and dedication to the Volunteer State.\u201d<\/p>\n

The country music legend was born in 1946 in Sevier County. She has become known not only for her acclaimed work in entertainment but also for her service and philanthropy, promoting literacy and supporting children\u2019s education. <\/p>\n

\u201cThe proclamation recognizes Parton\u2019s lifetime of achievement, service, and positive influence, and encourages all Tennesseans to join in celebrating her enduring contributions,\u201d the press release said. <\/p>\n

The governor\u2019s office also celebrated the lasting impact she has had on the legacy of the Volunteer State. <\/p>\n
