On Jan. 13, Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano today announced the Yonkers Department of Housing and Buildings is issuing its annual heat complaint hotline and heating regulations for the season for all tenant-occupied residential buildings. <\/p>\n
\u201cAs the cold weather continues, it\u2019s essential that our homes remain safe and warm,\u201d said Mayor Spano. \u201cI urge residents to contact the City\u2019s heat hotline if their homes are not meeting building standards so we can respond quickly. I also encourage everyone to check on their senior neighbors and offer support\u2014being a good neighbor makes all the difference during this time of year.\u201d <\/p>\n
The City\u2019s Heat Emergency telephone number, receives calls 24-hours a day, seven days a week, for all residences within the City of Yonkers at 914-965-3331. The Yonkers Housing and Buildings Department also fields calls at 914-377-6879, Monday through Friday, from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM. Residents are also encouraged to contact the 24\/7 Mayor\u2019s Help Line at 377-HELP (4357) for assistance. <\/p>\n
The New York State Property Maintenance Code Section 602.3 mandates during the period from September 15th to May 31st, that every person, firm or corporation in the City of Yonkers is required to maintain a temperature of no less than 68\u00b0F (20\u00b0C) in all habitable rooms, bathrooms, and toilet rooms. At all other times whenever the outside temperature falls below 55\u00b0 the inside temperature is to be supplied as follows: <\/p>\n
Between 6:00 AM and 11:00 PM 68\u00b0F
Between 11:00PM and 6:00AM 65\u00b0F <\/p>\n
Note: Hot water is to be maintained at a minimum temperature of 120\u00b0F at all times.
