Police on Staten Island<\/a> are investigating after a man was killed after apparently being mauled to death by his roommate\u2019s dog.\u00a0\n<\/p>\n

Officers from the 122nd Precinct<\/a> rushed to 608 New Dorp Lane, near Miller Field in New Dorp, just after 4 p.m. on Jan. 18 after receiving a 911 call reporting a vicious animal attack.<\/p>\n

Upon arrival, cops discovered the victim, a 59-year-old man, who was unconscious and unresponsive, covered in blood with dog bites across his entire body.\n<\/p>\n

EMS also responded and pronounced the man dead on scene. Police have not yet released the man\u2019s identity, pending family notification.\n<\/p>\n

Police say the dog, a pitbull, belonged to a man with whom the victim was rooming.\u00a0 The canine was removed to the ASPCA.\n<\/p>\n

No arrests have been made in the ongoing investigation, police said.<\/p>\n
