For some New Yorkers, this weekend\u2019s wintry weather made them rethink their plans.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt did keep me in on Saturday night. I didn\u2019t have major plans, just to go into the city,\u201d Harris, a Brooklyn resident, said. \u201cBut when it started snowing, I decided to stay in Brooklyn instead. So a minor change.\u201d<\/p>\n

For others, not so much.<\/p>\n
“No, it didn\u2019t deter my plans. I went to go see my mother. She lives in Brooklyn, and now I\u2019m going to the store, and then I\u2019m going back to the house,\u201d Natasha, a Manhattan resident, said.<\/p>\n

Plows were also ready to go in any neighborhood that was expecting to see more than two inches of accumulation on the roads.<\/p>\n
Javier Lojan, the acting sanitation commissioner, urged New Yorkers to be careful.<\/p>\n
\u201cIf you have to be out, take mass transit. If you have to be driving, please take it easy. We\u2019ve seen a lot of collisions over the past few days. The roads have been treated, but they\u2019re always slick. So people who go a little too fast, please take it easy,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Lojan also warned about below-freezing temperatures to come, urging people to shovel as early as possible.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe earlier you can get out and clear your sidewalks and your property, the better. We are going to anticipate getting some really cold temperatures Monday evening, so it\u2019s going to be a lot harder if you wait too long,\u201d he said. \u201cOnce it gets to ice, it\u2019s almost impossible to get rid of that stuff.
