<\/p>\nSTATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Monsignor Farrell, behind a tourney-high four champions, pinned down its third straight Donald Douglas Memorial crown on Sunday, besting 57 other wrestling teams from around the city at Petrides HS.<\/p>\n
The Lions accumulated 265.5 points in the two-day event — formerly known as the Mayor\u2019s Cup — which serves as the city championship to topple runner-up James Madison (186 points) of Brooklyn. <\/p>\n
Poly Prep (172) of Brooklyn was third and was followed by Tottenville (171.5). Petrides finished sixth with 100 points, Susan Wagner seventh with 98 and St. Joseph by-the-Sea 10th with 93 points. <\/p>\n

Farrell had a 13-point lead over Madison (120-107) following the first day of competition, then distanced itself from the rest of the field on the second day.<\/p>\n
In addition to the Lions\u2019 gold-medal haul, three other Island teams produced one champ apiece, making it a banner day for Island squads.<\/p>\n
As a matter of fact, 11 Island grapplers competed in the finals of nine of the 14 weight classes, including all-Island title matchups at 126 and 285 pounds.<\/p>\n
In the two all-Island matches, Farrell\u2019s Brennan Sprague beat Tottenville\u2019s Tristan Levin, 12-3, at 126 pounds, while Farrell\u2019s Anthony Lombardi slipped past Petrides\u2019 Luke Burmaster, 3-1, in the super heavy weight class.<\/p>\n
Tottenville\u2019s David Khodzhaev captured the 144-pound class by edging Cian Gaughan of Riverdale Kingsbridge Academy, 4-3, in an exciting match that was pulled out by the Pirate on a takedown with 12 seconds remaining in the match.<\/p>\n
At 165, Farrell\u2019s Quinn Hunt blanked Hank Weller of Dalton, 3-0, for the gold.<\/p>\n
Hunt\u2019s teammate, John Bonura won at 175 pounds, edging Carlos Rohm of Dalton, 8-7. <\/p>\n
Justin Stassi was Sea\u2019s lone champ, copping the 190-pound class with a 9-0 triumph over Sunset Park\u2019s Javier Mina-Lewis.<\/p>\n
Malik Ayesh of New Dorp captured the 215-pound gold by besting Elijah Desir of Eagle Academy 3-0. <\/p>\n
Susan Wagner\u2019s Joshua Zacharia placed second at 118 pounds after suffering a 10-8 defeat to Poly Prep\u2019s Luke Foote in the championship bout. <\/p>\n
In the 132-pound title match, Farrell\u2019s Albert Lula succumbed to James Madison\u2019s Eric Ivry, 7-0. <\/p>\n
