Free Upper West Side News, Delivered To Your Inbox<\/a><\/p>\n Another Upper West Side restaurant has shut its doors<\/a>.<\/p>\n The Granola Bar, which opened at 551 Amsterdam Avenue (at West 87th Street) in early 2024\u2013replacing Kirsh Bakery & Kitchen<\/a>\u2013has officially closed its neighborhood outpost after just two years in business. The restaurant confirmed the news in a recent Instagram post<\/a>, noting that its final day of service was January 18.<\/p>\n \u201cThank you, Upper West Side, for an incredible journey,\u201d the company wrote. \u201cThank you for welcoming us into your neighborhood and showing us so much love. While we\u2019re closing this location, our catering services continue as always, and we hope you\u2019ll visit us at one of our other locations.\u201d <\/p>\n The Upper West Side location marked The Granola Bar\u2019s first New York City expansion. The brand, founded in Connecticut in 2010 by Dana Noorily and Julie Mountain, built a following around its breakfast, brunch and comfort-food menu, offering items like avocado toast, parfaits, burgers, pasta dishes and its signature house-made granola.<\/p>\n At the time of opening, the Amsterdam Avenue space was positioned as an all-day caf\u00e9 and restaurant, featuring dine-in service along with a grab-and-go counter for coffee, smoothies and quick bites.<\/p>\n It remains unclear what prompted the closure. The company did not provide additional details beyond confirming that catering operations will continue and that customers can still visit its other locations.<\/p>\n The Granola Bar ended its UWS run with mixed reviews, with a Google score<\/a> of 3.8 and a Yelp score<\/a> of 3.7.<\/p>\n Have a news tip?
