{"id":106290,"date":"2026-01-20T20:27:08","date_gmt":"2026-01-20T20:27:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/106290\/"},"modified":"2026-01-20T20:27:08","modified_gmt":"2026-01-20T20:27:08","slug":"new-york-man-pleads-guilty-in-murder-for-hire-plot","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/106290\/","title":{"rendered":"New York man pleads guilty in murder-for-hire plot"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A second man charged in a murder-for-hire conspiracy in Wilkes-Barre pleaded guilty to reduced charges Monday as his trial was scheduled to begin.<\/p>\n<p>Gregory Thomas Warren, 42, of Bronx, New York, was charged with conspiring with Dashawn \u201cHef\u201d William Nelson, 31, of Kingston, and Gregory DuClaire, 41, of Wilkes-Barre, to murder a man in retaliation for a previous shooting.<\/p>\n<p>The charges alleged Nelson was angered that the unidentified victim had shot up his business in Wilkes-Barre, so he offered DuClaire $5,000 to \u201ctake care of\u201d the problem. Nobody was injured as a result of the scheme.<\/p>\n<p>Warren was due to stand trial Monday but instead pleaded guilty to criminal use of a communication facility in exchange for additional charges, including conspiracy to commit murder, being withdrawn.<\/p>\n<p>Luzerne County Judge Michael T. Vough accepted the plea and set sentencing for March 4.<\/p>\n<p>Assistant District Attorney Julian F. Truskowski prosecuted the case.<\/p>\n<p>Nelson previously reached a similar plea deal and pleaded guilty to criminal use of a communication facility in exchange for the more serious charges being withdrawn.<\/p>\n<p>He was sentenced in December to five years of probation.<\/p>\n<p>Court records show DuClaire\u2019s case is still pending.
