BROOKLYN, N.Y. — Casey McKinney is carrying the Susan Wagner girls\u2019 varsity basketball team right now.<\/p>\n
After a handful of recent outings in which she averaged 27 points and 15 rebounds, she bettered that Monday by netting 33 points and pulling down 18rebounds to lift the Falcons to 63-50 victory over Amsterdam HS in the Gators MLK Day Tournament at Achievement First HS in Brooklyn.<\/p>\n
\u201cTremendous all-around game from Casey McKinney. She\u2019s playing at such a high level for us right now and her intensity has spread to her teammates,\u201d said SW head coach Tom Rizzo. \u201cThis is a big win for our girls. It\u2019s the kind of team effort we want to continue to build upon.\u201d<\/p>\n
SW\u2019s Jamielyn Chin added 12 points, while teammate Danielle Harrell added six points and eight assists.<\/p>\n
The Falcons, who improved to 13-6 overall, led 32-25 at the half and 52-40 after three.<\/p>\n
\u201cAmsterdam proved to be every bit of a huge test for us,\u201d Rizzo said. \u201cThey\u2019re a solid team that plays very good basketball. Our transition game continues to improve and we ran the floor well. More importantly, we were able to maintain our poise and answer each time Amsterdam went on a run.<\/p>\n
\u201cOur defense made the adjustments to limit (two of their best players) from getting good looks at the basket.\u201d<\/p>\n

BROOKLYN, N.Y. — Aliya Monroe scored the go-ahead layup with three seconds left in regulation to give the Gators the win in the Rose Classic on Sunday.<\/p>\n
Gianna Montagna led the way with 12 points and three steals, while Savannah Breslin and Lindsay McAllister had five assists apiece. <\/p>\n
NDA improved to 9-5 overall. The Gators play Bishop Loughlin Friday at the College of Staten Island at 7:30 p.m.<\/p>\n

BROOKLYN, N.Y. — Mackenzie Felci finished with 14 points, 12 rebounds and three blocks as the Mavericks won Monday afternoon in the Rose Classic Super Jam at Nazareth HS.<\/p>\n
Allie Felci added nine points and six rebounds, while Emma Costanzo and Emma Bruno-Dunn chipped in eight points apiece, with Costanzo also pulling down six rebounds. <\/p>\n
The Mavericks, who are now 12-2 overall 8-0 in the CHSAA AA division, will be back in action as they open play in the Borough President Cup, beginning with the play-in games on Jan. 23.<\/p>\n

BROOKLYN, N.Y. — Olivia DiMonda poured in 25 points and had five assists, but it wasn\u2019t enough as the Vikings fell in the Rose Classic Friday at Nazareth HS.<\/p>\n

RED BANK, N.J. — The Vikings went on the road for a second straight day Saturday and dropped the non-league encounter to their nationally ranked opponent, which is also ranked first in the Garden State.<\/p>\n
Lila Goldstein scored seven points for Sea, while Isabella Castania added six.<\/p>\n
\u201cVery difficult and disappointing games and playing those caliber of teams on back-to-back days down two starters made an already difficult challenge even harder,\u201d Sea head coach Josh Suslak lamented. \u201cBut for our underclassmen to get a bunch of minutes against those girls is certainly going to give them some experience that they can build of off.\u201d<\/p>\n
