{"id":1066,"date":"2025-10-14T08:57:19","date_gmt":"2025-10-14T08:57:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/1066\/"},"modified":"2025-10-14T08:57:19","modified_gmt":"2025-10-14T08:57:19","slug":"glass-window-falls-400-feet-from-nyc-skyscraper-onto-midtown-street-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/1066\/","title":{"rendered":"Glass window falls 400 feet from NYC skyscraper onto Midtown street"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">A pane of glass plummeted more than 400 feet from <a href=\"https:\/\/fisherdev.com\/properties\/1345-avenue-of-the-americas\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:a Midtown skyscraper,;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">a Midtown skyscraper,<\/a> crashing down onto the sidewalk and street below early Sunday morning, city officials said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The 4-foot-by-6-foot pane fell from 1345 Sixth Ave., <a href=\"https:\/\/therealdeal.com\/new-york\/2025\/06\/09\/blackstones-deal-with-fisher-values-1345-sixth-ave-at-1-4b\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:a 50-story, 2 million-square-foot tower;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">a 50-story, 2 million-square-foot tower<\/a> at W. 54th St., around 7 a.m., according to the city\u2019s Department of Buildings.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">No one was injured by the glass, though police blocked off the sidewalk as first responders gathered.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The building\u2019s 43rd floor, from which the glass fell, is undergoing alteration work, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nyc.gov\/site\/buildings\/index.page\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:Buildings;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">Buildings<\/a> officials said.
