\u201cWhat we see is an entity that has no interest in fulfilling its stated reason to exist,\u201d Mayor Zohran Mamdani thundered Tuesday on \u201cThe View\u201d<\/a> to explain why \u201cI am in support of abolishing ICE\u201d; somehow none of the crack policy analysts on ABC\u2019s chat show thought to ask him what federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement is meant to.<\/p>\n

Hand it to the mayor: He knows how to preach to his fangirls.<\/p>\n

Problem is, the agency\u2019s \u201creason to exist\u201d is find, arrest and deport criminal illegal immigrants \u2014 rapists, murderers, pedophiles, drug dealers and other heinous goons.<\/p>\n

Sadly, a lot of them got waved into the US interior in the Biden years; getting them out is a major public-safety priority.<\/p>\n

Yet somehow Mamdani and the rest of the American left has rushed right back to their #AbolishICE battle cry of the pre-Biden years. <\/p>\n

They still demand open borders, still insist illegal immigration in violation of US law isn\u2019t a crime.<\/p>\n

Hence he pretends enforcement is all \u201cabout people whose crimes simply seems to be being in New York City\u201d; in reality, if local politicians would cooperate as ICE goes after the worst of the worst, it wouldn\u2019t be out in the neighborhoods where more-pacific illegal migrants live. <\/p>\n

But the new mayor has gone so far as to toss his predecessor\u2019s order<\/a> that let Homeland Security and other federal law enforcers monitor Tren de Aragua and other gangs inside Rikers.<\/p>\n

That is, he\u2019s protecting the worst guys while pretending to care for other immigrants that the gangs prey upon.<\/p>\n

Homeland Security has listed 7,000 illegal-immigrant gangbangers it\u2019s expelled this last year<\/a>; it might\u2019ve been twice or three times as many if blue-state leaders weren\u2019t at war with the feds.<\/p>\n

Fine; you can fault Team Trump\u2019s leaders for seeming to want to play the cartoon-villain roles that the left assigns \u2014 but that doesn\u2019t make ICE\u2019s work any less vital for protecting the public. <\/p>\n

Even now, the agency\u2019s behaving in red states pretty much as it did under President Barack Obama, when the left whined about such law enforcement but didn\u2019t pretend it amounted to a fascist night falling on America. <\/p>\n

It\u2019s the anti-ICE lunatics who are causing chaos, with every intent to make it worse.<\/p>\n

Here in New York, the mayor\u2019s old Democratic Socialist comrades are recruiting and training 4,000-plus activists<\/a> to do Minneapolis-style \u201crapid response\u201d obstruction of feds trying to arrest hard-core-criminal illegal immigrants.<\/p>\n
