According to Brooklyn, an even deeper rupture stemmed from a dispute over branding\u2014specifically, his refusal to \u201csign the rights away\u201d to his own name. According to Brooklyn\u2019s posts, that decision impacted a larger family business arrangement, and with it, how he was treated thereafter. \u201cMy holdout affected the payday,\u201d he wrote, later stating plainly that \u201cBrand Beckham comes first.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cMy family values public promotion and endorsements above all else,\u201d he writes. \u201cFamily \u2018love\u2019 is decided by how much you post on social media.\u201d Yet, even after attending \u201cevery fashion show, every party,and every press activity to show our perfect family,\u201d Brooklyn alleges that \u201cthe one time my wife asked for my mum\u2019s support to save displaced dogs during the LA fires, my mum refused.\u201d<\/p>\n

There were other details, more intimate and unsettling. He claimed that women from his past were repeatedly invited into family gatherings in ways that made both him and Nicola uncomfortable. He said his parents had refused to see them, while privately and publicly feeding stories to the press\u2014sometimes, he alleged, enlisting his own siblings to attack him on social media.<\/p>\n

Perhaps most striking was Brooklyn\u2019s rejection of the dominant narrative about Nicola\u2019s influence. \u201cThe narrative that my wife controls me is completely backwards,\u201d he wrote. \u201cI\u2019ve been controlled by my parents for my entire life.\u201d<\/p>\n
