STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. \u2014 A West Brighton man charged with armed robbery in Queens has accepted a plea offer to resolve his case, records show. <\/p>\n

Robert Petty, 29, of the 600 block of Delafield Avenue, pleaded guilty Jan. 7 to a charge of second-degree robbery, stemming from the Oct. 29 incident in which he was accused of targeting his victim on a train in that borough<\/a>. <\/p>\n

Court records do not yet indicate what sentence Petty will receive in exchange for his plea. The case was adjourned to Feb. 3 for sentencing in Queens state Supreme Court. <\/p>\n

Petty\u2019s attorney, a public defender with the Legal Aid Society, did not respond to a request for comment Tuesday. <\/p>\n

How the robbery unfolded<\/p>\n

According to a criminal complaint, Petty approached a 17-year-old male at the Union Turnpike-Kew Gardens stop on the date in question. He initially asked the teen for directions, and then allegedly told him, \u201cI was going to mug you on the train.\u201d<\/p>\n

Petty, who is listed in jail records at 6 feet tall and 217 pounds, allegedly demanded $50, but the victim said he did not have cash. So Petty revealed a black firearm and ordered the teen to send $100 through a cash app, the complaint alleges, but the transaction failed.<\/p>\n

Petty then allegedly forced the victim out of the station at gunpoint onto Queens Boulevard to a Chase Bank ATM, where the teen withdrew $140.
