What do you get when you pair a world-famous pop-star and fashion icon with a legendary soccer player? You get Brooklyn Beckham, the eldest child of David and Victoria Beckham, as well as a budding chef and sometime actor in his own right. Though Beckham’s claim that he was a chef elicited dubious comments<\/a>, Beckham appears committed to the culinary arts.\u00a0According to an interview with Forbes<\/a>, the star also claimed\u00a0his passion for cooking was set ablaze in Italy. Beckham discovered his love for the cuisine during a childhood cooking class in Milan, and in the years since, the cooking enthusiast hunts for Italian eats wherever he goes.\u00a0Despite having lived in the biggest cities in the world, Beckham admits, “I always try to find the hole-in-the-wall Italian places. I just miss Italian cuisine.”<\/p>\n

Of course, Italian cuisine varies from region to region, and Beckham has expressed a particular attachment to the\u00a0Amalfi Coast. Located in Southern Italy, the budding chef said he only spent one day there, but wishes to visit again to better explore the cuisine. “I would love to go back again,” Beckham explained, “but spend like a week there. I’ve heard the food is unbelievable.” Popular regional dishes\u00a0on the Amalfi Coast include scialatielli ai frutti di mare (or pasta with seafood) and\u00a0Parmagiana di melanzana, which is a casserole-style recipe featuring eggplant, tomato sauce, mozzarella, and\u00a0Parmeggiano Reggiano.<\/p>\n

Like chefs of all skill levels, not all of Brooklyn Beckham’s kitchen creations have been met with fanfare. For instance, Beckham received backlash for a cooking video on Instagram<\/a>, as followers took exception to the chef’s generous use of truffles at a time when most people subsist on ramen noodles and tears.\u00a0However, the “Formula E Creators’ Challenge” star also has some kitchen successes under his belt, and it’s no surprise that his favorite preparation is a classic of Italian cuisine.<\/p>\n

In an interview with Taste of Home<\/a>, the enterprising home cook credited spaghetti bolognese<\/a>\u00a0for impressing his wife when they first began dating. “[Spaghetti bolognese] is mine and my missus’ go-to dish,” said Beckham. “I love making her happy.” Traditionally, this pasta dish is made with pasta plus ground beef (and other meats), red wine, tomato paste and puree, vegetables, and herbs, but Beckham claims that bronze-cut pasta is the key to the recipe. Bronze-cut pasta has a rougher texture, which allows sauce to cling better than other types. And when you consider that the young star has recently formed a partnership with Barilla pasta, specifically the brand’s Al Bronzo line, it’s safe to assume that the Beckham-Peltz household will be awash in life-altering spaghetti bolognese for years to come.<\/p>\n
