{"id":107930,"date":"2026-01-22T00:20:08","date_gmt":"2026-01-22T00:20:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/107930\/"},"modified":"2026-01-22T00:20:08","modified_gmt":"2026-01-22T00:20:08","slug":"mid-winter-break-activities-offered-at-staten-island-childrens-museum","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/107930\/","title":{"rendered":"Mid-winter break activities offered at Staten Island Children\u2019s Museum"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"Q6DA3S5SNJCATIE4PRTQCFB2RA\">STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. \u2014 The Staten Island Children\u2019s Museum will offer daily programming throughout February, including special events during NYC Public Schools Mid-Winter Break from Feb. 14 through Feb. 22.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"C22LEFIAWFBTJFWD6XQFJISSEE\">The museum will host guest artists who will bring music, dance, yoga and literacy programming to visitors. <\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"XJ3ZXD67HFD3PLW5FT2DSP3DGM\">Interactive performances range from storytelling sessions with therapy dogs to steel drum performances and bubble science shows.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"HOTDTPAZZ5CIDOCDJ4QIKIIOUA\">On Feb. 7 from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m., the museum is partnering with the Staten Island Alliance to offer free admission with pre-registration for a PreK for All Admission Day. <\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"73TXNLXANFAZTMVMTT336HI3W4\">The event will include an early childhood development informational fair with representatives from city agencies and nonprofit organizations who will provide resources for families and assist with 3K and PreK enrollment. <\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"EQOGD4RMRRAHJPQ4UTHXPRVICY\">Visitors must register online in advance.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"LPWOMCXNHVDAXPQ2FBZYNLJTAI\">The museum will operate a Mid-Winter Fun Camp from Feb. 16 through Feb. 20 for children ages 5 through 9. <\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"4WR3DVHYTBFLPKKQ654D7CND6Y\">The week of hands-on activities will blend creativity and curiosity, including STEAM projects, science experiments, art making, outdoor adventures, interactive exhibit play, and cultural performances by guest artists.<\/p>\n<p>Mid-winter break events at the Museum<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"ERFY73GKFNAINCO7IL6MZ2RTFI\">During mid-winter break, the museum will be open daily with guest artists appearing almost every day. <\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"NWCCRZLBLVGBDB4GQZZGYFIRBY\">Mad Science will present a physics performance exploring Isaac Newton\u2019s three laws of motion on Feb. 14 at 4 p.m. Young scientists will conduct experiments, compete in competitions, and learn the physics behind some of their favorite sports.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"UOOOTPP2Y5FODMKI2JKSFSUYVE\">On Feb. 16 at 4 p.m., families can attend Discover the Rhythm of the World: S\u2019Cool Sounds Percussion Workshop, which will focus on percussion instruments and their geographic origins. The workshop is designed for ages 3 through 9.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"NJJNTKUOC5GONOJIJECSBG3NNM\">Casey Carle will present BubbleMania: Science, Art &amp; Comedy on Feb. 17 with two shows at 3:30 p.m. for ages 2 to 4 and 4:15 p.m. for ages 5 and up. The high-energy stage show will feature fog-filled bubble sculptures, funky foam, cube-shaped bubbles, and bubbles that trap a human inside.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"BTQC3PM3KNBIRPFQNEF566UTFY\">Dentist Marcia Greene will lead The Art of a Healthy Smile on Feb. 18 at 4 p.m., an art workshop and presentation inspired by dental hygiene in honor of National Children\u2019s Dental Health Month.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"EE736MMY55CFLOPCIGYFP7GIZQ\">Zumba Kids classes will bring kid-friendly routines inspired by original Zumba choreography on Feb. 19 at 4 p.m. An instructor will break down the steps, add games, and create an engaging, active experience.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"IOQVZYXEWBGJHAVW3S3XE5J7TU\">Caribbean Vibe Steel Drum Band will perform Feel the Sounds of the Islands on Feb. 20 at 4 p.m. Children ages 3-9 will learn how steel drums are made, hear different musical styles from across the Caribbean, and discover how rhythm and teamwork create performances.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"G5JMVQK5SBFX7BFU2GXAVGWC34\">ShopRite Kidz Cook will host cooking sessions on Feb. 21 for caregivers and children to prepare Shakshuka, eggs poached in a sauce of tomatoes. Sessions are held at noon, 1 p.m., 2 p.m., and 3 p.m. Space is limited, and tickets are available at the door for ages 4 and up.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"72BHZXW2RBAY3G3P36FVZZIY64\">The monthly Movers and Shakers series will be held on Feb. 22 with four 45-minute movement workshops designed for specific age groups. <\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"U7Z6JPVG3FBHBAOXT5TFAPVYNU\">Parents and Pips, for infants under 1, will be held from 11 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. <\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"OODY6VV3RRE65J6ACNFEMSCFOM\">Walkers\u2019 Wiggle, for ages 1 to 3, will run from noon to 12:45 p.m. Yoga Adventure, for ages 4 and up, will be held from 1 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. <\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"L7DS5IXRFVFKVOJMCIYPTPDTWQ\">Music Video Mania, for ages 6 and up, will run from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. Space is limited, and free tickets will be distributed on a first come, first served basis.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"6R7K4FJE45GNBLQ47ELKFYS2TQ\">Throughout February, the Walk-In! Workshop will offer daily art activities. Kids can create Pop Art Posters inspired by Romero Britto using neon markers to create bold shapes in bright colors. The workshop is open Wednesday through Friday from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from noon to 4 p.m.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"ZAGNMPUAMREGDLIJMWCEUGUOAU\">On Feb. 1 starting at 1 p.m., therapy dogs from Luv on a Leash will listen as kids read to them. Sessions will be held at 1 p.m., 1:20 p.m., 1:50 p.m., and 2:10 p.m. Limited spots are available in each session, and interested visitors should pick up an event pass at the front desk on a first-come, first-served basis.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"4KWBHLV2CVA6DPKLLARQU6KG3M\">The Staten Island Children\u2019s Museum is open Wednesday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. In February, the museum will have limited hours on Feb. 7, open only from noon to 4 p.m. During NYC Public Schools Mid-Winter Break, the museum will have additional days open on Feb. 16 and Feb. 17. All programs are included with admission unless stated.
