{"id":108093,"date":"2026-01-22T02:59:24","date_gmt":"2026-01-22T02:59:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/108093\/"},"modified":"2026-01-22T02:59:24","modified_gmt":"2026-01-22T02:59:24","slug":"six-mets-ranked-in-baseball-americas-top-100-prospects-list","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/108093\/","title":{"rendered":"Six Mets ranked in Baseball America&#8217;s top 100 prospects list"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Nolan McLean likely will be falling off prospect lists everywhere this year as he\u2019s poised for his first full season with the Mets following an impressive 2025 cameo.<\/p>\n<p>But for now, the right-hander leads the way as one of six Mets prospects on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseballamerica.com\/rankings\/2026-top-100-prospects\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Baseball America\u2019s list of the top 100 prospects<\/a> in the sport, which was released Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>McLean, 24, comes in at No. 8, followed by outfielder Carson Benge at No. 19; right-hander Jonah Tong at No. 44; middle infielder\/center fielder Jett Williams at No. 71; right-hander Brandon Sproat at No. 81 and outfielder\/second baseman A.J. Ewing at No. 83.<\/p>\n<p>A third-round pick in 2023, McLean had a 2.06 ERA in eight big-league starts last year, recording 57 strikeouts in 48 innings and a 5-1 record while impressing with his deep arsenal and a fastball that can reach the high 90s.<\/p>\n<p>His spot in the 2026 rotation seems secure, barring an unexpectedly poor spring training.<\/p>\n<p>Tong and Sproat also had late-season stints with the Mets, though they didn\u2019t create the same buzz that McLean did.<\/p>\n<p><img style=\"aspect-ratio:1.3781965;display:block\" fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" data-modal-image=\"38244682\" width=\"813\" height=\"590\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/pitches-first-inning-new-york-110185752.jpg\" alt=\"Nolan McLean\" class=\"wp-image-38244682\"  \/>Nolan McLean during the 2025 season. Robert Sabo for NY Post<\/p>\n<p>In five starts, the 22-year-old Tong had a 7.71 ERA with 22 strikeouts in 18 \u2154 innings after raising his stock tremendously with a 1.59 ERA across 20 Double-A outings.<\/p>\n<p>He was a seventh-round pick in 2022.<\/p>\n<p>Sproat had a 4.79 ERA with 17 strikeouts in 20 \u2154 innings across four MLB starts after posting a 4.24 ERA in 26 Triple-A appearances.<\/p>\n<p>Currently the Mets figure to have a rotation that includes David Peterson, Kodai Senga, Sean Manaea and Clay Holmes. They may still sign a starter in free agency and have been linked to Framber Valdez. <\/p>\n<p>Benge\u2019s path to earning a big-league roster spot got complicated Tuesday when the Mets acquired center fielder Luis Robert from the White Sox.<\/p>\n<p>He could potentially grab the left-field job, especially with <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/01\/21\/sports\/cody-bellinger-re-signs-with-yankees-for-162-5-million\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Cody Bellinger re-signing with the Yankees<\/a> on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p><img style=\"aspect-ratio:1.49926794;display:block\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" data-modal-image=\"38244700\" width=\"885\" height=\"590\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/GettyImages-2228078793.jpg\" alt=\"Carson Benge\" class=\"wp-image-38244700\"  \/>Carson Benge could be in the Mets\u2019 outfield this year.
