NEW YORK CITY (PIX11) \u2014 The impending snowstorm<\/a> heading towards the East Coast could bring as much as a foot of snow to the New York City area.<\/p>\n

The cross-country winter storm<\/a> might make the tri-state area a winter wonderland, with some areas north of New York City seeing a possible 15 inches of snow in higher elevation areas, according to PIX11 meteorologists.<\/p>\n

Long Island and New Jersey could see anything between 4 and 10 inches of snow<\/a>.<\/p>\n

When will the snow hit New York City?<\/p>\n

The timeline of when the snowstorm will come to New York City<\/a> is dependent on the speed and track of the storm.<\/p>\n

Saturday temperatures will be dangerously cold<\/a> in the teens as the storm system approaches, with cloud coverage increasing throughout the day.<\/p>\n

The snow is expected to begin to fall on Sunday morning, according to the National Weather Service. The storm may not let up until Monday afternoon.<\/p>\n
