Bronx District Attorney Darcel D. Clark announced Wednesday, Jan. 21, that a Bronx man was sentenced to four years in prison for a third-degree criminal sexual act for sexually assaulting a teenage girl.<\/p>\n
\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cThe defendant sexually assaulted the victim while she was celebrating her 13th birthday, and then repeatedly abused her for years,\u201d Clark said. \u201cToday, he is being held accountable for his heinous actions. We continue to offer support services to the victim.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u00a0<\/p>\n
The district attorney said Mushin Morshed, 65, of The Bronx, was sentenced on Jan. 20, to four years in prison and three years post release supervision for third-degree criminal sexual act, and second-degree sexual abuse and endangering the welfare of a child by Bronx Supreme Court Justice Laurence Busching. She said he was convicted by a jury on Oct. 8, 2025.<\/p>\n
\u00a0<\/p>\n
According to the facts at trial, the defendant sexually assaulted the 13-year-old in 2017 while she was celebrating her 13th birthday. The court heard that he continued abusing the victim, and in one incident he sexually abused her while she was getting ready to celebrate Eid with her family. Prosecutors said the defendant carried out the assaults when she had other family members in her home.<\/p>\n

The case was prosecuted by Major Case Assistant District Attorney Victoria Nu\u00f1ez and Assistant District Attorney Dana Snay of the Bronx District Attorney\u2019s child abuse\/sex crimes bureau, under the supervision of Mimi Mairs, chief of the child abuse\/sex crimes bureau, and under the overall supervision of Adrienne Guinta, deputy chief of the special victims division and Joseph Muroff, chief of the special victims division.<\/p>\n

Clark thanked Jillian Crowly, Yolanda Siders-Lewis, trial preparation assistants, and Tasnia Islam, file clerk, of the child abuse\/sex crimes bureau for their assistance on this case, as well as NYPD Detective Ernesto Castillo of the Bronx Special Victims Squad.<\/p>\n

\nNature and extent of the child\u2019s injuries.
\nType of abuse or neglect, including knowledge of prior history of abuse or neglect of the child or siblings.
