BROOKLYN, N.Y. — Forward Leo Velkin and defenseman Dylan Kehley scored goals with less than two minutes remaining in the second period to rally St. Joseph by-the-Sea past St. Mary\u2019s\/St. John the Baptist, 2-1, in a CHSHL A encounter Friday night at Abe Stark Arena.<\/p>\n
The Vikings improved to 11-0-1, while the Gaels fell to 5-4-1.<\/p>\n
The Gaels struck first late in the opening period to take a 1-0 lead into the first intermission, despite five power-play opportunities for the Vikings. <\/p>\n
The score remained that way through most of the second period until Velkin and Kehley found the net.<\/p>\n
In the waning seconds of the period, however, Sea was called for two penalties, setting up a two-man advantage for their opponent to start the third.<\/p>\n
A stingy penalty kill (7 for 7) and strong goaltending by Justin Marzullo (28 saves) kept the Vikings in front.<\/p>\n
