The plow is raised a bit off the ground to avoid \u2018tripping\u2019 on things like manhole covers,\u201d A Sanitation spokesperson explained.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"image-gallery-image\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/1769384964_646_GCMRDU4WZFF4VNWJNJKJ5FDXLY.JPG\"  loading=\"lazy\"\/><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"image-gallery-image\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/N6FAMVHCZZF5RBYRE3F3BMIVV4.JPG\"  loading=\"lazy\"\/><\/p>\n<p>1\/23<\/p>\n<p class=\"image-gallery-caption\">Snow, frosty conditions strike Staten Island, rest of NYC<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"ESAKJ6GUPRCVRD2UFXGQODAFZQ\">The plows can be monitored on the department\u2019s PlowNYC map, which can be found at <a href=\"https:\/\/plownyc.cityofnewyork.us\/plownyc\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/plownyc.cityofnewyork.us\/plownyc\/\">plownyc.cityofnewyork.us\/plownyc\/<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"YXDLJUMIGNDBLPGBTIMNEZYWNQ\">Without meeting the 2-inch minimum, the plows \u2014 and PlowNYC, the city\u2019s plow map \u2014 do not deploy.
