STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. \u2014 Will New York City receive a foot of snow or will accumulation fail to exceed half a foot?<\/p>\n

As of Saturday, meteorologists continue to monitor the developing situation.<\/p>\n

AccuWeather meteorologists have said the city could see anywhere between 4 to 12 inches of accumulation. AccuWeather<\/a> Meteorologist Alyssa Glenny told the Advance\/SILive.com Saturday morning that the amount of sleet mixing with this snowstorm<\/a> will be the determining factor for the final snowfall tallies.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf there is less sleet, perhaps, you know, northern parts of the city, northern suburbs, there\u2019s a chance that total may (be) near a foot (of snow),\u201d explained Glenny. \u201cNow, Long Island, suburbs with a better chance for sleet, we can see totals a little bit on the lower side of that, four to eight (inches).\u201d<\/p>\n

Glenny said that the snow beginning early Sunday morning<\/a> will transition to sleet for a period of time Sunday evening before turning back to snow early Monday morning.<\/p>\n

The forecast from the National Weather Service<\/a> issued at 2:15 p.m. on Saturday indicates that the city will receive around 10 inches of snow. There is at least a 50-60% chance that Staten Island will receive 8 or more inches of snow from this storm, according to the weather service.<\/p>\n

The Weather Channel<\/a> forecasts 8 to 12 inches of snow and ice will fall on Sunday alone; additional snow and ice of less than an inch is expected to come down Sunday night.<\/p>\n

While it is possible the forecast may change, as of Saturday afternoon, the consensus appears to be that the city will likely see at least 8 inches of snow.<\/p>\n
