STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. \u2014 Mayor Zohran Mamdani offered a glimpse into New York City\u2019s preparations ahead of this weekend\u2019s winter storm.<\/p>\n

Mamdani said on Saturday that Deputy Mayor for Operations Julia Kerson led a copious review of 311 records to identify communities across the five boroughs historically underserved during snow storms.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are quite literally pouring through 311 reports from previous snowstorms so that there is no New Yorker on Sunday who wonders whether, because of their zip code or their neighborhood, they\u2019re receiving a different level of service,\u201d Mamdani said. \u201cEvery single New Yorker is going to receive the same level of service where we prepare the city, take care of the city, and then get the city back on its feet in time after the storm.\u201d<\/p>\n

Hizzoner made his Saturday comments at a Manhattan press briefing ahead of this weekend\u2019s storm, which is expected to bring freezing temperatures and a wintry mixture, including as much as a foot of snow to the five boroughs<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Forecasters predict snow to begin between 4 a.m. and 6 a.m. Sunday, continuing throughout the day before possibly turning to sleet Sunday night into early Monday morning.<\/p>\n

A bit more snow should return Monday morning, with Mamdani saying the city expects to see about 8 to 9 inches of snow before the storm is over. Other forecasters are predicting much more.<\/p>\n

Plows will be ready to go around the five boroughs as soon as 2 inches of snow accumulates, and Mamdani said Saturday that trucks have already been out brining the streets in preparation for the storm.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt will be colder than any sustained period that New York has experienced in about eight years, but New York, whatever comes for it, this city is ready,\u201d Mamdani said. \u201cEvery agency is working in lockstep with the other.
