Throughout the week, Mamdani made note of the oft-changing forecast, sharing the latest news on the storm to his social-media accounts<\/a> and during his public events. \u201cNYC is forecasted to get 3\u201316 inches of snow this weekend. And we\u2019re ready,\u201d he wrote in one post<\/a>.<\/p>\n

On Friday, the mayor took to the airwaves, making appearances on the Weather Channel<\/a> and NY1<\/a> as well as radio stations Hot 97<\/a> and 1010 WINS<\/a> to talk about the snowstorm.<\/p>\n

Mamdani then held a briefing at the headquarters of the city\u2019s Emergency Management department, warning<\/a> New Yorkers that the storm will likely be the most significant snowfall that the city has seen in years. The mayor said he is issuing a hazardous travel advisory for Sunday and Monday, urging residents to complete any errands or necessary trips by day\u2019s end.<\/p>\n

\u201cOnce the snow begins to fall, I want to encourage New Yorkers to do something that we don\u2019t often have the luxury of doing, which is to take a breath and stay home. Stay indoors, stay off the roads, watch the snow come down, watch the worst possible reality-TV show you can find, and take some time away from the roads,\u201d Mamdani advised.<\/p>\n
