thousands of high school and college students reached out to form new Turning Point USA chapters across the country<\/a> \u2014 including those at the College of Staten Island, who formed the charter in the fall 2025 semester.<\/p>\nJasmine Robinson, female district leader of New York state Assembly District 61 covering the North Shore, brought concerns of the new charter to social media.<\/p>\n
\u201cI am very concerned about Turning Point USA having a chapter here on Staten Island,\u201d Robinson told the Advance\/SILive.com. \u201cThe basis that they have in the chapter is to promote nonpartisan dialogue, support American pride \u2014 patriotism. But when I see that in the lens of being a Black and Cuban woman, I see it not supporting American values. I don\u2019t see it being fair and nonpartisan. I see that it\u2019s very partisan, very slated, very one-sided.\u201d<\/p>\n
Robinson shared concerns about who would come to the campus if the charter holds events.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m very concerned about that, we don\u2019t need any more division on this Island. We don\u2019t need any outside influence to come here and pour gasoline on the tense climate out here on Staten Island,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n
A spokesperson for the College of Staten Island stated that Turning Point USA is a registered student organization \u201cgoverned by the same policies that apply to all student clubs and organizations.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cNo safety concerns or complaints have come up since its establishment,\u201d said the spokesperson for CSI. \u201cStudent clubs at CSI reflect a variety of interests. The College supports free expression and expects all organizations to maintain a safe, inclusive, and respectful environment.\u201d<\/p>\n
Neither the Turning Point USA charter at the College of Staten Island nor the Turning Point USA national organization responded to a request for comment.<\/p>\n
