Anti-ICE protesters\u00a0violently swarmed\u00a0a\u00a0Minneapolis\u00a0hotel where they believed federal officers were staying, hurling items at people inside, smashing its windows, and graffitiing \u201cF\u2013K ICE\u201d across the building\u2019s facade Sunday.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

They shoved and hurled objects at a Minneapolis Police Department officer and others just inside the hotel\u2019s lobby and attempted to push their way in \u2014 forcing those inside to use two large vending machines to physically block the rowdy demonstrators.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019re all locals, it\u2019s all locals!\u201d one man shouted as he tried to ward off the protesters.\u00a0\u201cYou guys are doing this for no reason.\u201d<\/p>\n
The protesters also banged on trash cans, slammed snow shovels, blew whistles, stomped, yelled and shone strobe lights on the hotel\u2019s facade in an attempt to disturb the federal officers who they believed were sleeping inside.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Several turned to vandalism, smashing the windows of the hotel and scrawling\u00a0\u201cICE OUT,\u201d \u201cF\u2013K ICE\u201d and \u201cICE KILLS\u201d\u00a0across its facade. Debris and trash littered the hotel\u2019s lobby following the madness.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Swarms of heavily armed federal\u00a0agents later arrived, spilling out of an armored vehicle. They quickly deployed\u00a0tear\u00a0gas and flash-bangs to disperse the\u00a0crowd.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Minnesota State Patrol and DNR [Department of Natural Resources] were called to assist Minneapolis police with damage to hotel property at Home2 Suites Hotel on University Avenue,\u201d the Minnesota Department of Public Safety said in a statement on X<\/a> just before 11 p.m. local time. <\/p>\n \u201cWhile they collaboratively worked to encircle the group for arrests because the demonstration was not peaceful, federal agents arrived without communication and deployed chemical irritants, clearing the group. The State Patrol and DNR are no longer on the scene.\u201d<\/p>\n One federal agent who was guarding the\u00a0hotel entrance appeared to be bleeding from his nose or mouth.
