She alleged Good\u2019s actions amounted to \u201can act of domestic terrorism.\u201d Her defense of the incident caused national and international outrage as video evidence of the encounter circulated online.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/Kings-6.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-127344\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/Kings-6.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1000\" height=\"1316\"\/><\/a>JOAN HOLLANDER, 97, HOLDS a protest sign as she attends a \u201cNo Kings\u201d rally held in Riverdale close to the Henry Hudson Parkway on Sunday, Jan. 11, 2026.<br \/>Photo courtesy of Joan Hollander<\/p>\n<p>NPR also reported that the officer who shot Good had been dragged during a separate December 2025 incident by another protestor, Roberto Carlos Munoz-Guatemala, who had been convicted of sexual abuse, after he was pulled over by law enforcement. \u201cMunoz-Guatemala sped away after Ross [the agent] had reached inside the vehicle, trapping the agent\u2019s arm and causing him to sustain injuries to his arm and hand,\u201d NPR reported based on <a href=\"https:\/\/storage.courtlistener.com\/recap\/gov.uscourts.mnd.225948\/gov.uscourts.mnd.225948.38.0_1.pdf\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">court records<\/a> of the prior incident.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Back in The Bronx, prior to a second Minneapolis shooting on Jan. 24, Northwest Bronx Indivisible (NBI), a local chapter of Indivisible, arranged a hastily planned protest outside Seton Park at the corner of Independence Avenue and West 235th Street on Sunday, Jan. 11.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/Kings-5.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-127343\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/Kings-5.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1000\" height=\"565\"\/><\/a>DOZENS OF PROTESTORS pack a highway overpass over the Henry Hudson Parkway in Riverdale during a second \u201cNo Kings\u201d rally held on Sunday, Jan. 11, 2026.<br \/>Photo by David Greene<\/p>\n<p>According to NBI, \u201cWe\u2019re a grassroots movement of thousands of local indivisible groups with a mission to elect progressive leaders, rebuild our democracy, and defeat the Trump agenda.\u201d As <a href=\"https:\/\/www.norwoodnews.org\/different-generations-discuss-democracy-at-2nd-manhattan-no-kings-rally\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">reported<\/a>, the group had also participated in an earlier No Kings Day rally locally and in Manhattan last October when they also discussed the importance of democracy during an impromptu encounter with some youngsters aboard the subway while on route to Manhattan.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>An email announcing the latest rally read, \u201cCome with your anger, or your sorrow or your fear and join in community as we try to make our way through this senseless tragedy.\u201d Other rallies were also held in other cities across the nation the same day, with a larger rally held in Manhattan at the southeast corner of Central Park, close to Trump Tower.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/Kings-3.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-127341\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/Kings-3.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1000\" height=\"1000\"\/><\/a>DEMONSTRATORS PACK A highway overpass over the Henry Hudson Parkway in Riverdale during a second \u201cNo Kings Day\u201d rally on Sunday, Jan. 11, 2026.<br \/>Photo by David Greene<\/p>\n<p>The Bronx rally, which had as its theme, \u201cICE Out for Good,\u201d was held in conjunction with the other nationwide rallies under the banner, \u201cNo Wars, No Kings, No ICE\u201d A New York Post article estimated the crowd at the Manhattan rally at 2,000. However, Norwood News overheard a police radio transmission in which one police officer observing the crowd, estimated its size at 8,000.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, at Seton Park, the crowd was closer to 100, and the route took the protestors east across West 235th Street and north along Henry Hudson Parkway where they then marched up the highway overpass between West 235th Street and West 236th Street. During the march, the group chanted, \u201cHey, hey! Ho, ho! Donald Trump has got to go!\u201d and \u201cNo hate! No fear! We\u2019re seeing movements in Riverdale growing over time. We have neighbors coming from all over the district. The more we see each other, the more we\u2019re getting close to that 3 \u00bd percent. Once we have 3 \u00bd percent of citizens peacefully protesting, that\u2019s when an authoritarian government can be toppled, and that\u2019s what we\u2019re here to do today.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Of the ICE shooting, Martin added, \u201cWith the death of Rene Good in Minnesota, people wanted to come together to have a vigil and a rally, and stand up to our authoritarian government and the actions of ICE.\u201d She added, \u201cWe now have a government that has turned against its own citizens. For Linda, who proudly said she has been a protester for over 60 years, it was her first protest in Riverdale due to \u201cpain in my left knee.\u201d Linda was holding a hand-made sign that read, \u201cStill Marching After All These Years,\u201d a lyric from a Paul Simon song.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Asked which policies of the Trump administration impacted her most, Linda replied, \u201cFor me, personally, transgender rights. I have two trans grandchildren, teenagers. I\u2019m scared to death of what\u2019s going to be facing them.\u201d She continued, \u201cTaking away food stamps, taking away daycare, and the most recent snatching people off the street, and sending them to horrible places because, really, they don\u2019t like the color of their skin.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Asked if she thought Democrats could take back Congress in 2026, Collette said, \u201cGod, I hope so! Oh my God! Minutes later, his wife, Carol, apologized and said, \u201cYears ago, I was told I was an alarmist, and I was making my husband nervous by saying that fascism is coming.\u201d Carol explained that her husband had been a Trump supporter but has switched sides in recent months. She added, \u201cHe\u2019s seeing it, but he doesn\u2019t want to talk about it. It makes him upset.\u201d Carol added, \u201cHe thought he could overlook certain things.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Asked to elaborate on some of the Trump policies she is against, Carol said in part, \u201cWell, I\u2019m on Medicare, and I\u2019m on supplement, but I know [the] cutting food for kids, he\u2019s invading other countries.\u201d She also alleged he committed sexual assault. PBS previously reported that the civil sexual abuse case <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbs.org\/newshour\/politics\/5-million-verdict-in-sexual-abuse-case-against-president-elect-donald-trump-upheld-by-appeals-court\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">against the president was<\/a> upheld by an appeals court.\u201d Carol continued, \u201cHe cut off aid to Africa and hundreds of thousands of people have died.\u201d The latter is confirmed in a report by the Harvard T.H. On June 30, the U.S. Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) implemented a \u201cReduction-in-Force\u201d program, affecting 1,600 USAID personnel in the United States.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>A second Minneapolis resident, ICU nurse <a href=\"https:\/\/www.npr.org\/2026\/01\/25\/nx-s1-5687875\/minneapolis-shooting-minnesota-ice-alex-pretti-dhs-investigatAlex%20Pretti\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Alex Pretti<\/a>, was subsequently <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbs.org\/newshour\/nation\/republican-calls-are-growing-for-a-deeper-investigation-into-fatal-minneapolis-shooting-of-alex-pretti\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">killed<\/a> on Saturday morning, Jan. 24, by U.S. Border Patrol agents amid further protests and a scuffle involving a third female civilian. New York Gov. Kathy Hochul has since called for Noem to resign or be fired.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Border crossings by undocumented immigrants at the U.S. Southern border have all but disappeared over the last year as a result of what many consider to be extremely cruel ICE tactics and deportations, while half the country hails Trump\u2019s immigration policy as successful and necessary.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>State Sen.
