STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. \u2014 NYC Ferry has suspended service because of icy conditions in New York Harbor.<\/p>\n

Ice buildup in the Hudson River, East River and around New York Harbor means the boats are unable to dock at landings. <\/p>\n

The suspensions went into effect at 2 p.m. on Tuesday and affect all routes in the system.<\/p>\n

According to an NYC Ferry service alert<\/a>, the closures could last \u201cfor several days\u201d depending on waterway conditions. <\/p>\n

The final boats on the St. George route departed at 1:19 p.m. on Tuesday, according to NYC Ferry. <\/p>\n

The Staten Island Ferry, which is operated separately by the Department of Transportation, is unaffected.<\/p>\n

On Sunday, service on the NYC Ferry system was also suspended<\/a> due to low visibility from the snow storm.<\/p>\n

Across Staten Island, residents continue to face challenges <\/a>surrounding the snow, slush and dangerously cold temperatures in the wake of the weekend storm<\/a>.<\/p>\n

A Cold Weather Advisory<\/a> has been issued for Staten Island from midnight Tuesday until 10 a.m. Wednesday, with wind chills expected to drop to 5 to 8 degrees below zero, according to the National Weather Service.<\/p>\n

The unseasonably cold arctic air will intensify Tuesday evening as another reinforcing shot moves into the region. Wind chills will fall below zero after midnight, creating potentially dangerous conditions for anyone outdoors.<\/p>\n
