HUDSON VALLEY, NY \u2014 The Hudson Valley could be hit with another round of snow this weekend, according to the National Weather Service.<\/p>\n
The National Weather Service offered information Tuesday morning on X regarding “a potentially significant coastal storm<\/a> this weekend. Chances have increased for impactful snow and\/or wind along the immediate East Coast, but uncertainty remains rather high with respect to details. Be sure to keep checking for updates.”<\/p>\n Cold temperatures are expected to persist in the region through the next week. At the same time, a “high-altitude disturbance” will come out of Canada late in the week, leading to a “strong” surface low-pressure system. “This surface low interacting with the very cold air mass will result in widespread heavy precipitation,” the NWS said.<\/p>\n Here is the latest information regarding a potentially significant coastal storm this weekend. A cold weather advisory is in effect from midnight Tuesday until 10 a.m. Wednesday, with very cold wind chills, as low as minus 5 degrees expected in the region.<\/p>\n “The cold wind chills could result in hypothermia if precautions are not taken. Use caution while traveling outside. Wear appropriate clothing, a hat, and gloves,” the NWS said.<\/p>\n Brian Ciemnecki, meteorologist with the NWS Office in Upton, said that the models show “significant potential for another storm” this weekend. “We don’t have a lot of details. We’re monitoring it; it could impact us \u2014 or it could stay offshore.”<\/p>\n Should the storm hit the Hudson Valley, he said, “It will be a snow event,” likely Saturday night into Sunday. “But we’re a long way out and there’s a lot of uncertainty.”<\/p>\n
