STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. \u2014 Pete Davidson<\/a> is settling into dad life, clich\u00e9s and all.<\/p>\n

During an appearance Monday on \u201cThe Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,\u201d the Staten Island native reflected on becoming a first-time father and the surreal realization that his daughter, Scottie Rose, is very much here to stay.<\/p>\n

\u201cAll the clich\u00e9s are true,\u201d Davidson said. \u201cIt\u2019s so much fun. It\u2019s nuts.\u201d<\/p>\n

Davidson and girlfriend Elsie Hewitt welcomed their daughter in December, and while he says the early days were filled with adrenaline and disbelief, reality recently set in.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe had a moment last week,\u201d he said. \u201cWe\u2019re like, \u2018Oh. She\u2019s here. She\u2019s, like, staying \u2026 Now it\u2019s real.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

Fallon laughed along, describing the abrupt end of spontaneous outings. \u201cCan\u2019t just go to a movie and leave,\u201d Fallon said. <\/p>\n

Despite the adjustment, Davidson said he\u2019s loving the experience, especially watching Hewitt step into motherhood. <\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s really cute. It\u2019s fun to see Elsie be a great mom,\u201d he said, before veering into the less glamorous side of parenting.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey crap so much,\u201d he said. \u201cThey crap while they\u2019re crapping.\u201d<\/p>\n

Parental advice has come from everywhere, including total strangers at the store. But Davidson says the most meaningful guidance came from one of his comedy heroes<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe best advice I actually got \u2014 and I hate, it\u2019s so name-dropping \u2014 but Eddie Murphy gave me great advice,\u201d Davidson said.<\/p>\n

Murphy\u2019s wisdom was simple: \u201cThe best advice is no advice. You can\u2019t tell another man how to raise his child.\u201d<\/p>\n

Davidson also shared how emotional it\u2019s been to see his own mother become a grandmother.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy mom, if it was legal, would have had my kid,\u201d he joked, adding that she was so excited she tried to claim her own grandma name \u2014 Mamie \u2014 and even made sweaters for it.<\/p>\n
