STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. \u2014 NYC Ferry service remains suspended during the Wednesday morning rush hour on Staten Island and throughout the system.<\/p>\n

Service on all routes was canceled because of dangerous ice in the East and Hudson rivers and across New York Harbor. <\/p>\n

\u201cThe safety of all crew, passengers, and vessels is of the utmost importance, and NYC Ferry crew continues to monitor evolving waterway conditions and prepare the fleet to ensure service can resume once conditions improve,\u201d according to an alert on the NYC Ferry website. \u201cWe will provide ongoing updates regarding resumption of service at ferry.nyc <\/a>and in the NYC Ferry app.\u201d <\/p>\n

The Staten Island Ferry is operating on schedule.<\/p>\n

A major snowstorm dumped about a foot of snow on the borough last weekend.<\/p>\n

Staten Island residents face dangerously cold conditions Wednesday morning with wind chills below zero degrees.<\/a><\/p>\n

The National Weather Service has issued a Cold Weather Advisory until 10 a.m. for Richmond County.<\/p>\n

According to the National Weather Service, the unseasonably cold temperatures will continue throughout the week with additional arctic air reinforcements arriving Wednesday evening.<\/p>\n

Wind chills are expected to fall below zero degrees again after midnight, creating potentially hazardous conditions for anyone outdoors. Forecasters indicate that subsequent cold weather advisories are likely for the next few nights, potentially through Friday night.<\/p>\n

The frigid pattern shows no signs of breaking before the weekend. Wednesday will see west to west-northwest winds around 10 mph, with slightly stronger gusts possible. Temperatures will remain well below seasonal averages, with additional arctic air masses arriving Thursday night and especially late Friday into Friday night.<\/p>\n
