{"id":115122,"date":"2026-01-28T15:17:06","date_gmt":"2026-01-28T15:17:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/115122\/"},"modified":"2026-01-28T15:17:06","modified_gmt":"2026-01-28T15:17:06","slug":"suspect-attacked-on-train-after-argument-cops-say-amnewyork","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/115122\/","title":{"rendered":"Suspect attacked on train after argument, cops say \u2013 amNewYork"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\t\t\t\t<img width=\"1200\" height=\"812\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/2146cb03-8121-48b9-ab22-cea79ea2cf9c.jpg\" class=\"crop-center wp-post-image\" alt=\"nypd officers in blue on subway platform with yellow crime scene tape stretched\" decoding=\"async\" fetchpriority=\"high\"   title=\"Lower Manhattan subway stabbing: Suspect attacked on train after argument, cops say 1\"\/>\t\t\t<\/p>\n<p>FILE \u2013 Police officers investigate a subway stabbing. <\/p>\n<p>Photo by Dean Moses<\/p>\n<p>Cops are on the hunt for the suspect behind a stabbing at a <a href=\"http:\/\/amny.com\/manhattan\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Lower Manhattan<\/a> subway station early on Wednesday morning.\n<\/p>\n<p>According to police sources, the incident unfolded at the Broadway-Lafayette St station on the B\/D\/F\/M lines at around 5:21 a.m. on Jan. 28.\n<\/p>\n<p>Authorities said the victim, a 51-year-old man, became embroiled in a verbal dispute with the suspect, described as a man between 20 and 30 yearss of age, while on board a southbound train.\n<\/p>\n<p>The clash turned physical and, after the train arrived at Broadway-Lafayette St, spilled out onto the platform \u2014 where, sources familiar with the case said, the perpetrator pulled out a knife and stabbed the 51-year-old in the back.<\/p>\n<p>Following the attack, cops said, the assailant fled to parts unknown. No further description of the perpetrator was immediately available.\n<\/p>\n<p>Officers from the <a href=\"http:\/\/twitter.com\/nypd5pct\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">5th Precinct<\/a> and NYPD Transit District 4 responded to the incident. EMS rushed the victim to\u00a0Bellevue Hospital, where he was treated for his injury and listed in stable condition.<\/p>\n<p>So far, no arrests have been made in the ongoing investigation.\n<\/p>\n<p>Anyone with information regarding this stabbing can call Crime Stoppers at 800-577-TIPS (for Spanish, dial 888-57-PISTA). All calls and messages are kept confidential.<\/p>\n<p>The stabbing occurred amid a historic drop in subway crime. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amny.com\/news\/subway-crime-drop-2025-nypd\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Overall crime decreased in the subway system by 4% in 2025<\/a>, according to NYPD data provided to the MTA.
