STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. \u2014 Authorities allege that a gunpoint robbery led to the raid of a home in Mariners Harbor where police confiscated a gun in a refrigerator and drugs in the attic.<\/p>\n
Palmer Kwame, 35, and Farrah Cardona, 33, were arrested after police, armed with a search warrant, swarmed their home on Bush Avenue on Jan. 23 at about 7:30 p.m., according to the criminal complaint and police.<\/p>\n
The raid was prompted by an incident around 11 a.m. on that same day when Kwame allegedly pointed what appeared to be a black firearm at a victim. <\/p>\n
\u201cYou have to pay me for what\u2019s missing,\u201d the criminal complaint alleges that Kwame said before the victim handed that defendant about $1,000 in cash.<\/p>\n
The victim was a 45-year-old man, according to a source with knowledge of the investigation.<\/p>\n
The criminal complaint alleges that officers found a 9 mm Heckler & Koch VP9 handgun in the refrigerator. A bullet was in the chamber of the semi-automatic handgun and the magazine was loaded with 10 bullets. <\/p>\n
The criminal complaint alleges that the defendants are not dealers in rifles or shotguns in New York City or the state.<\/p>\n
In the attic, officers found multiple plastic-zipper bags and glassine envelopes containing white powder and rocks that authorities identified as cocaine. Additional drugs seized included nine white tablets of the anti-seizure medication Clonazepam, each was marked with an arrow and \u201c41,\u2033 and 33 orange pills of amphetamine labeled E401. Some of the drugs were stashed in a purse, according to the criminal complaint.<\/p>\n
Officers confiscated drug paraphernalia, including a digital scale and a large plastic-zipper bag holding other plastic-zipper bags, found in the living room.<\/p>\n
The defendants have been charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell, criminal possession of a weapon, criminal possession of a controlled substance and criminal use of drug paraphernalia.<\/p>\n
Kwame faces additional charges of robbery and menacing.<\/p>\n
The defendants have pleaded not guilty to all charges.<\/p>\n
Kwame has been released with non-monetary conditions and is due back in state Criminal Court in St. George on Feb. 26. His attorney did not immediately respond to a request for comment.<\/p>\n
Bail has been set at $40,000 bond\/$10,000 cash for Cardona who is due back in state Criminal Court in St. George on Jan. 29, according to public records.<\/p>\n
Attorney Louis Gelormino, who is representing Cardona, defended the innocence of his client.<\/p>\n
\u201cMs. Cardona completely denies these allegations,\u201d Gelormino said. \u201cShe looks forward to a full investigation of the facts where we expect she will be fully vindicated.\u201d<\/p>\n
Kwame, who also is listed as Kwame Palmer in public records, was convicted of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree in 2016. He was sentenced to a conditional discharge in Criminal Court in St. George, according to the criminal complaint.<\/p>\n
