I think I\u2019m being healed.\u201d<br \/>\n                  Photo: Aaron Idelson\n              <\/p>\n<p class=\"clay-paragraph\" data-editable=\"text\" data-uri=\"www.vulture.com\/_components\/clay-paragraph\/instances\/cmky4fer1000i0ifpb5is7kf0@published\" data-word-count=\"168\">There came a point halfway through Hilary Duff\u2019s sold-out show at the Brooklyn Paramount \u2014 amid a sea of \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/@thetvandmoviequeen\/video\/7193204969753857326?lang=en\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Sing to me, Paolo<\/a>\u201d posters, glitter hair clips, and Depop-sourced Stuff by Hilary Duff baby tees \u2014 that she had a confession to make. You see, she named her tour \u201cSmall Rooms, Big Nerves\u201d as a bit of a fail-safe. Duff wasn\u2019t so sure, having not embarked on a full concert tour since 2008, that she could sell out a venue with a roughly 2,500-person capacity. Did the \u201cbought Metamorphosis at a Sam Goody\u201d crowd still show up? Yes, of course they did. The ticket mayhem was downright Swiftopian; don\u2019t even <a href=\"https:\/\/seatgeek.com\/hilary-duff-tickets\/los-angeles-california-the-wiltern-2026-01-29-7-pm\/concert\/17895239?dd_referrer=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.google.com%2F&amp;quantity=1\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">look<\/a> at the resale tickets for her next concert in Los Angeles. \u201cI can\u2019t believe you all showed up for me,\u201d Duff admitted during her 75-minute set. \u201cIt\u2019s a dream. I keep seeing you guys on the internet saying the most lovely things about this being like a healing experience. It\u2019s for me. I think I\u2019m being healed.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"clay-paragraph\" data-editable=\"text\" data-uri=\"www.vulture.com\/_components\/clay-paragraph\/instances\/cmky4re3200213b6hp64e66ko@published\" data-word-count=\"133\">Duff\u2019s January 28 stop in Brooklyn was the third on her very short tour \u2014 that Los Angeles show will serve as the finale, with Toronto and London dates already behind her \u2014 which was planned ahead of the release of her sixth studio album, Luck \u2026 or Something, due on February 20. \u201cIt\u2019s been way too long,\u201d Duff explained at one point. \u201cIt means a whole lot to me that all these years later, these songs mean something to you. We can reminisce and remember the past, and also relate and meet here tonight. I get to sing new songs for you, and hopefully we get to relate on those levels because we\u2019re all adults now.\u201d As if trying to convince us, she punctuated the remarks with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=Hw_UKRZwus8\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">\u201cYou\u2019re watching Disney Channel\u201d choreography<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"clay-paragraph\" data-editable=\"text\" data-uri=\"www.vulture.com\/_components\/clay-paragraph\/instances\/cmky4re0i00203b6h7x7qo6jp@published\" data-word-count=\"224\">While former stars of the Disney machine may choose to eschew or reinterpret their early, little-autonomy material \u2014 Aly &amp; AJ, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vulture.com\/article\/aly-and-aj-silver-deliverer-potential-breakup-song.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">for example<\/a>, no longer perform \u201cLike Whoa\u201d and changed the arrangement of \u201cPotential Breakup Song\u201d to suit their folk-rock pivot \u2014 Duff had no qualms honoring the Lizzie McGuire of it all. After opening the show with faithful renditions of \u201cWake Up\u201d and \u201cSo Yesterday,\u201d her set list was peppered with material from her forthcoming record that would\u2019ve soundtracked that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vulture.com\/2020\/12\/lizzie-mcguire-reboot-cancelled-hilary-duff.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">canceled Lizzie reboot<\/a> nicely. (One stanza, from the slick \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=Akkzj5p3a3E\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Roommates<\/a>\u201d: \u201cI want the part where you say, \u2018Goddamn\u2019 \/ Back of the dive bar, giving you head.\u201d) Another debut, \u201cWe Don\u2019t Talk,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vulture.com\/article\/hilary-duff-haylie-we-dont-talk.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">is purportedly about<\/a> Duff\u2019s estrangement from her sister, Haylie, in which she laments, \u201cI\u2019m not sure when it happened.\u201d \u201cFly,\u201d the lead single from Duff\u2019s 2004 eponymous album and a spiritual younger sister to Evanescence\u2019s \u201cBring Me to Life,\u201d received the longest and perhaps most surprising backstory. \u201cI\u2019ve always thought about the harder moments with this one,\u201d she said. \u201cI\u2019ve tried to lean on the people I\u2019ve felt safest with and find the strength myself. Whatever you\u2019re going through, this is definitely a sweet one you can find some meaning and comfort in.\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=4a-SEPT8DeE\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">One song<\/a>, meanwhile, barely required an introduction at all: \u201cThis song\u2019s about rain. (She has four children and is married to producer Matthew Koma, who was a key collaborator on Luck \u2026 or Something.) Duff only hopes that her fans, too, share that same type of acceptance with themselves. \u201cOne of the highlights of building this show was digging into my old catalogue and listening to lyrics and applying them to my life now,\u201d she concluded before the pink-butterfly confetti kicked in. \u201cSome of them definitely made me giggle, and some of them meant so much to me. I know a lot of you are here tonight because they meant a whole bunch to you too.\u201d To quote a very wise woman: Have you ever seen such a beautiful night?
