That&#8217;s finally about to change.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/attachment-900-2.jpg\" alt=\"CNY News logo\"\/>Why Was Amtrak&#8217;s Service Delayed?<\/p>\n<p>If you regularly take the\u00a0Empire Service trains between Albany and NYC, you may have noticed their service has been slowly dwindling. There&#8217;s nowhere near as many trains running, and that&#8217;s been hiking prices up.<\/p>\n<p>Passengers boarding an Amtrak train in NYC<\/p>\n<p>Photo by Spencer Platt\/Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>This is because of <a href=\"https:\/\/gothamist.com\/news\/amtrak-restores-nyc-albany-trains-dropping-cheaper-metro-north-alternative\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">ongoing construction to the\u00a0East River Tunnel<\/a>, which is necessary for most lines to reach the city. The lines have been cut back since April of 2025, but the time has come for them to finally get back on the rails.<\/p>\n<p>Service is Being Restored<\/p>\n<p>Aside from day-trips to the Big Apple, this service is a necessity for many commuting to and from NYC every day, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.governor.ny.gov\/news\/statement-governor-kathy-hochul-137\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Governor Hochul<\/a> knows this. So, on Tuesday, January 27th, she announced that the Empire Service will be restoring all\u00a0suspended or combined trains in early March of 2026.<\/p>\n<p>Good news can&#8217;t come without some bad news, unfortunately. In the same press release, the Governor stated that the <a href=\"https:\/\/wnyt.com\/top-stories\/amtrak-service-between-albany-nyc-to-be-restored\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">initially proposed ALB-Grand Central Metro-North line<\/a> will not be moving forward. Luckily, with Amtrak getting back to full capacity, there&#8217;s not much of a reason for that line to move forward anymore.<\/p>\n<p>2026 SPAC Lineup<\/p>\n<p>The 2026 concert season is almost here!
