At this point in my life, I\u2019m a certified Dairy Queen fiend. Being from Illinois, the official home<\/a> of the Queen herself, I\u2019m used to seeing one on basically every other corner. It was the ice cream shop we\u2019d walk to on hot summer days to order Blizzards<\/a>. And calling the chain\u2019s soft serve<\/a> iconic barely covers it. She owns that ice cream throne for a reason.<\/p>\n

Now that love\u2019s favorite day is just around the corner, we\u2019re being gifted the Dairy Queen Valentine\u2019s Cupcakes.<\/p>\n

What are the Dairy Queen Valentine\u2019s cupcakes?<\/p>\n

Dairy Queen wanted a miniature take on its classic fudge and crunch cakes, and in doing so, created the Valentine\u2019s cupcakes. These single-serve sweets start with a layer of classic chocolate soft serve, followed by a layer of chocolate fudge crunch and then topped with creamy vanilla soft serve and bright pink, red or white frosting with tiny heart sprinkles.<\/p>\n

How do the DQ Valentine\u2019s cupcakes taste?<\/p>\n

At first glance, the cupcakes are colorful and inviting. You can see each layer distinctly, and being such a huge lover of the chain\u2019s soft serve, I was more than ready to dive in. Though they\u2019re located in the same freezer section as DQ\u2019s famous ice cream cakes<\/a>, you don\u2019t have to wait 30 minutes to eat them like the full cakes. I shoved my spoon down to the very bottom to make sure I grabbed a little bit of each layer. And yes, while calling this a \u201ccupcake\u201d is quite the stretch, it was as delicious as I expected it to be.<\/p>\n

If you\u2019ve ever partaken in a twist cone (or a zebra cone, as it\u2019s known around here), it\u2019s almost an exact replica with a satisfying crunch in the middle. While I wished there were a bit more of the fudge crunch for a textural difference, I thought the placement was masterful. Chocolate and vanilla marry into a scrumptious bite, and I soon found myself unable to stop. By the end, the colorful frosting coated the entire inside of the cup.<\/p>\n

Final Thoughts<\/p>\n

While the Valentine\u2019s cupcakes aren\u2019t really different from the normal Dairy Queen cupcakes<\/a>, they\u2019re still a stellar decision for the price. They currently have a 2-for-$6 deal while supplies last, which is more than enough reason for me to visit again. It\u2019s an adorable little treat to share with a loved one in honor of Valentine\u2019s Day.<\/p>\n
