Best Image \/ BACKGRID<\/p>\n<p>When asked about hints he\u2019d want to run for mayor, the Grammy-winning rapper made his ambition clear: \u201c2029 \u2013 vote for Mayor Mayers. Vote for Rocky.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A run by Rocky likely would put him on a collision course with the Big Apple\u2019s current rapper mayor \u2013 Mamdani, who had a much less successful pre-politics music career under the name <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/04\/15\/us-news\/zohran-mamdani-gets-mo-money-in-royalities-from-hip-hop-past-as-mr-cardamom-tax-returns\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Mr. Cardamom<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Rocky didn\u2019t mention mention Mamdani during the interview, but echoed the Democratic socialist\u2019s call for sweeping political change.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think that I would really do well because I\u2019m a guy that\u2019s for the people,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSee pot holes, fix them. The rates for the trains, like the train fare just went up to $3. It\u2019s f\u2014king crazy. Inflation is crazy. SNAP and welfare and food stamps and all of these benefits \u2014 it\u2019s f\u2014d up because that\u2019s where I derive from.
