Bryant Gumbel, known for his work on NBC\u2019s \u201cToday\u201d and HBO\u2019s \u201cReal Sports with Bryant Gumbel,\u201d has been hospitalized due to a \u201cmedical emergency.\u201d<\/p>\n
TMZ<\/a> first reported the news, saying the host was transported just after 9pm from his Manhattan home to a nearby hospital. He was reportedly taken out of his apartment on a gurney.<\/p>\n A family member told the outlet that Gumbel is \u201cokay,\u201d but no further information about his condition is available at this time.<\/p>\n Gumbel began as a co-host on \u201cToday\u201d back in 1982, alongside Jane Pauley and Katie Couric. He began hosting \u201cReal Sports with Bryant Gumbel\u201d in 1995 and wrapped the long-running series in 2023.<\/p>\n The news icon recently lost his older brother and fellow sports broadcaster Greg Gumbel in December 2024.<\/p>\n “It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of our beloved husband and father, Greg Gumbel. He passed away peacefully surrounded by much love after a courageous battle with cancer,\u201d Greg\u2019s widow Marcy and daughter Michelle said in a statement to People Magazine<\/a> at the time.<\/p>\n They continued, “Greg approached his illness like one would expect he would, with stoicism, grace, and positivity.
