In the chaos and excitement of the moment, there had been a terrible misunderstanding, with the announcer taking to his microphone to quickly clarify the mistake.<\/p>\n
\u201cAaah, I beg your pardon, I announced Miss Grand Paraguay,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere is a lot of noise in this hall, packed full of fans from all over the world.\u201d<\/p>\n
She then has to awkwardly return to her spot as the real winner, Paraguay\u2019s Cecilia Romero, proceeded to walk the stage in celebration.<\/p>\n
The beauty contestant\u2019s mishap has since sparked an avalanche of support on social media, with one video on TikTok amassing almost 5 million views alone.<\/p>\n
\u201cPanama, Canada, Paraguay, sound the same, don\u2019t condemn her,\u201d said one.<\/p>\n
\u201cMaybe she didn\u2019t really understand because of language barrier,\u201d reasoned another.<\/p>\n
As someone else added: \u201cI\u2019m from Paraguay and I felt very sorry about what happened\u201d.<\/p>\n
Others noted the video was \u201cpainful to watch\u201d before adding: \u201cHope she gets over it\u201d.<\/p>\n
\u201cYou were a good candidate, impeccable every time you came out, and you deserved the classification. I\u2019m sure better things will happen in your life,\u201d agreed one more.<\/p>\n
\u201cPoor girl, wish someone had told her before she reached the front,\u201d mused another.<\/p>\n
Thankfully, she appears to have taken the mishap in her stride.<\/p>\n
\u201cThese things happen. It was a mistake and this is a competition,\u201d she said after.<\/p>\n
\u201cYou have to know how to lose and recognise the triumph of others.\u201d<\/p>\n
Emma Tiglao, 30, of Pampanga was crowned the eventual winner of Miss Grand International 2025.<\/p>\n
Rounding out the winners were Thailand\u2019s Sarunrat Puagpipat as first runner-up, Spain\u2019s Aitana Jim\u00e9nez as second runner-up, Ghana\u2019s Faith Porter as third runner-up, and Venezuela\u2019s Nariman Battikha as fourth runner-up.<\/p>\n
