RAILCARD (DOLLY MIXTURE, HEAVENLY) \u2013 \u201cDAY DREAM\u201d<\/p>\n

Railcard are a DIY indiepop supergroup featguring Rachel Love (Dolly Mixture), Ian Button (Catenary Wires, Swansea Sound) and Peter Momtchiloff (Heavenly, Would-Be-Goods) who, if those names mean anything to you, you will not be surprised to learn make jangly guitar pop on the twee side. The band\u2019s two digital EPs from 2025 are being pressed as one LP that\u2019s out next week via Slumberland \/ Skep Wax and here\u2019s the new video for \u201cDay Dream.\u201d<\/p>\n

SWEET PILL \u2013 \u201cSLOW BURN\u201d<\/p>\n

Sweet Pill\u2019s anticipated<\/a> new album There\u2019s a Glow arrives in March, andthe latest single is \u201cSlow Burn.\u201d \u201cI kept seeing a cigarette and how every slow drag fills you up with literal death, but the exhale feels so good\u2013the irony of how something that feels good is so bad for you,\u201d vocalist Zayna Youssef says. \u201cThere are countless things in my life I take a deeeep, slow drag from that really don\u2019t benefit me, these habits have a short term satisfaction but the long term effect can be just one big slowburn. The song and video explore anxiety disguised as cameras and their constant surveillance. A snapshot into the mind of someone who overthinks to the point of \u2018seeing things\u2019 that may not even be there. Whether I am battling confidence or bad habits, overthinking can be so habitual. It kind of traps you in this circular purgatory which you find me running in and out of.\u201d<\/p>\n

ANNA PRIOR (METRONOMY) \u2013 \u201cSILENCE\u201d<\/p>\n

Metronomy just announced their first show after a three-year hiatus and now comes this new single from their drummer, Anna Prior. It\u2019s the first taste of her new EP Firefly that\u2019s out February 26 via Beat Palace. \u201cI wanted to write something sharp and fierce that was reflecting my mood at the time,\u201d Anna sayss. \u201cIt was a period of quiet, of nothingness, when a lot of my communication with friends, colleagues and probably the world in general were going unanswered. It\u2019s filled with frustration but once I got the song down, I felt a profound sensation of FREEDOM.\u201d<\/p>\n

PENNY ARCADE (ULTIMATE PAINTING \/ VERONICA FALLS) \u2013 \u201cREAR VIEW MIRROR\u201d<\/p>\n

James Hoare, formerly of Veronica Fall and Ultimate Painting, has announced his new album as Penny Arcade. It\u2019s titled Double Exposure and is out April 17 via Tapete. \u201cThe song is built around a drum beat from an Elka Drummer One drum machine,\u201d James says of the first single. \u201cI got hold of one of these some years ago as it was favoured by a number of German groups (Cluster, Harmonia) who I admire. You can adjust the volume of the individual drums to create interesting patterns. It\u2019s a slight departure from previous Penny Arcade songs being more minimal in nature with very basic instrumentation.\u201d<\/p>\n

CHRISTINE AND THE QUEENS & THEE DIANE \u2013 \u201cAH YA\u201d<\/p>\n

Christine and the Queens and Thee Diane teamed up for a new single, \u201cAh Ya.\u201d Christine and the Queens\u2019 Rahim says:<\/p>\n
