CHARLOTTE, NC \u2014\u00a0Playing with twice as many January walk-ons as original roster members, the Bellarmine University women’s basketball team was defeated 100-48 by Queens on Thursday in Atlantic Sun Conference action at Curry Arena.<\/p>\n
Decimated by injuries, Bellarmine (2-20, 0-9 ASUN) competed with only three players from its season-opening roster along with six walk-ons, including four who joined the team this week. The brand new members \u2014 freshmen Clare Slocum<\/a>, Maddie Janszen<\/a>, Carly Bryant<\/a> and Megan Wearsch<\/a> \u2014 all made their respective collegiate debuts.<\/p>\n Slocum, Janszen and Bryant all scored their first collegiate points. Slocum even pulled down a team-high seven rebounds.<\/p>\n Bellarmine was paced by a career-high 18 points from redshirt junior forward Andrea Chiquemba<\/a>, who scored in double figures for the third straight game. Sophomore forward Kayce Hyman<\/a> added 15 points, her fourth consecutive performance with at least 15 points.<\/p>\n Alyssa Lewis exploded for 33 points off the bench for Queens (8-12, 2-7). All 17 of her field-goal attempts came from beyond the 3-point line, and she hit 10 of them.
