Gregory Fleetwood<\/a>, 69, will serve 12 years behind bars for killing Jasmine Porter, 36, in front of her 5-year-old son, who was left alone with his mother\u2019s body for two days.<\/p>\nThe attack happened inside Porter\u2019s 1706 Davidson Ave. apartment in Morris Heights on Feb. 6, 1996.<\/p>\n
DNA found under Porter\u2019s fingernails allowed authorities to link Fleetwood to the killing, following advancements in forensic technology. The DA\u2019s office says Fleetwood\u2019s DNA was in the database; he had served prison time for strangling another pregnant woman in 1987.<\/p>\n
Fleetwood pleaded guilty to manslaughter on Dec. 10, 2025.<\/p>\n
“Three decades ago, the defendant carried out a horrific attack on a pregnant woman with her 5-year-old son forced to bear witness.
