Here\u2019s latest on shifting forecast"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"4NLXC47TFBHPXIYS7TYANHWHRU\">STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. \u2014 Borough residents should be spared from more snow this weekend, after previous forecasts suggested otherwise.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"5GO4FBC2FFAPNEL7VYXHEUMO5M\">On Thursday, an AccuWeather forecast showed a possible nor\u2019easter brewing that was expected to bring <a href=\"https:\/\/www.silive.com\/weather\/2026\/01\/noreaster-to-impact-nyc-with-snow-40-plus-mph-wind-gusts-heres-what-to-expect-this-weekend.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.silive.com\/weather\/2026\/01\/noreaster-to-impact-nyc-with-snow-40-plus-mph-wind-gusts-heres-what-to-expect-this-weekend.html\">1 to 3 inches of snow<\/a> and wind gusts of up to 40 mph to Staten Island. <\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"5YV6LF5SVNE2FGYAVTLQZOKPMA\">After 24 hours of radar-watching, however, that forecast has changed as the precipitation appears to be headed east of the city, said Tom Kines, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.accuweather.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.accuweather.com\">AccuWeather<\/a> senior meteorologist. <\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"U4MLAKTQPVAONGHVS56CZK5K7Y\">\u201cAt this point it doesn\u2019t look like we\u2019re going to get anything,\u201d said Kines. <\/p>\n<p>Below-freezing temps<img fetchpriority=\"low\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Freezing temperatures\" class=\"article__image-content\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/GBBPPE2S7RB25MFIUICNLBSP5I.png\"  \/>Forecasts are calling for below freezing temperatures and gusty winds throughout the weekend on Staten Island.(Accuweather)<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"MDXHJJHES5EXNEHGG3KHYEGOYA\">While the snow should miss the city, the blistering cold is here to stay, at least through the weekend. <\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"5VNWV625MBEYNLCR6MZP6IFPTU\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/forecast.weather.gov\/MapClick.php?lat=40.607102&amp;lon=-74.147909\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/forecast.weather.gov\/MapClick.php?lat=40.607102&amp;lon=-74.147909\">National Weather Service<\/a> issued a cold weather advisory on Friday that is in effect until 10 a.m. Saturday, during which wind chills could drop the real feel temperatures to as low as -5 to -10 degrees.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"75Y22G5AK5F4RADC7ZNKPDHW54\">On Saturday night, it could feel like -10 at times when factoring in the wind chill, Kines said. <\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"UY7WXFSEOZBE3BHUH2YVQMX4OA\">\u201cIt looks a little windy Saturday night into Sunday.
