STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. \u2014 Pete Davidson<\/a> has spent years shouting out Staten Island\u2019s best food spots, but on the debut episode of his new Netflix podcast, one local deli got a mention for a very different reason. <\/p>\n

During the debut installment of \u201cThe Pete Davidson Show,\u201d Davidson sat down with longtime friend and first guest Colson Baker (aka Machine Gun Kelly) for a loose, wide-ranging conversation that bounced from funny memories to mental health and whatever else came up.<\/p>\n

At one point, the two started talking about EMDR therapy, and Davidson asked Baker what his \u201chappy place\u201d is, or the mental image he goes to during sessions.<\/p>\n

Baker\u2019s answer was simple: \u201cClear water.\u201d Davidson\u2019s response, on the other hand, was about as classic Staten Island as it gets.<\/p>\n

\u201cMine was this deli that\u2019s near my house,\u201d he said, gearing up for another hometown borough shoutout.<\/p>\n

The appeal, he explained, is that it\u2019s almost aggressively practical.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s not the best deli in the world. It\u2019s just f—— clean,\u201d Davidson said. \u201cIt\u2019s, like, really clean. And you feel really good about buying produce and, like, meats from there.\u201d<\/p>\n

For Davidson, the place is also great because of its familiarity, and it\u2019s stayed normal even as everything else in his life hasn\u2019t.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe guy has known me since I\u2019m like 8 to 10 years old,\u201d Davidson said. \u201cHe\u2019s never like, asked me a Hollywood question. He\u2019s never made a comment on it. He\u2019s always just like, you know, \u2018good to see you.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

Eventually, Davidson revealed the name: Bagels R Us in Great Kills.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s phenomenal,\u201d Davidson said, acknowledging that delis aren\u2019t exactly hard to find in New York, which is why it means something when one becomes the one.<\/p>\n
