(NEXSTAR) \u2013 English musician Brian May<\/a>, the lead guitar player for Queen<\/a>, hinted that the band probably would not perform in the U.S. in the near future, if at all.<\/p>\n

\u201cAmerica is a dangerous place at the moment, so you have to take that into account,\u201d the 78-year-old rock legend told the Daily Mail.<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s very sad because I feel like Queen grew up in America and we love it, but it\u2019s not what it was,\u201d he continued. \u201cEveryone is thinking twice about going there at the moment.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Daily Mail did not say what prompted May\u2019s comments, nor if they were referencing the recent killings of Minneapolis residents Renee Good<\/a> or Alex Pretti<\/a> by federal immigration officials deployed to Minnesota. The musician, however, has previously suggested that he was not a fan of President Trump, and had called out Trump\u2019s campaign for using \u201cWe Are the Champions\u201d during the 2016 presidential primaries.<\/p>\n

\u201cI will make sure we take what steps we can to dissociate ourselves from Donald Trump\u2019s unsavoury campaign,\u201d May remarked on his official website, The Guardian<\/a> reported at the time.<\/p>\n

The guitarist last performed in the U.S. in 2025, appearing<\/a> with \u201cBeautiful Things\u201d singer Benson Boone during the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in Indio, Calif. Queen, with Adam Lambert on lead vocals, had also toured the U.S. in 2019 and 2023.<\/p>\n

Speaking with Rolling Stone<\/a> in 2025, May had also expressed a desire to perform a residency at The Sphere in Las Vegas, telling the outlet that Queen was taking part in \u201cconversations\u201d about it.<\/p>\n

I\u2019m very keen on the Sphere,\u201d he told the magazine. \u201cIt\u2019s got my mind working.\u201d<\/p>\n

May, meanwhile, said he doesn\u2019t know the next time Queen will take the stage at all, let alone in the U.S.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s an unknown,\u201d he told the Daily Mail. \u201cWe\u2019ll take it day by day.\u201d<\/p>\n
