Brian May, the lead guitarist for the legendary British rock band Queen, seems to be ruling out a return to the U.S. concert stage for the foreseeable future. <\/p>\n

In an interview with the U.K.\u2019s Daily Mail<\/a>, May said he and his band mates may avoid performing at U.S. venues if they decide to mount an upcoming tour. <\/p>\n

\u201cAmerica is a dangerous place at the moment, so you have to take that into account,\u201d he told the outlet. \u201cIt\u2019s very sad because I feel like Queen grew up in America and we love it, but it\u2019s not what it was.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cEveryone is thinking twice about going there at the moment,\u201d he added. <\/p>\n

Since 2012, Queen has been touring regularly with singer and \u201cAmerican Idol\u201d alum Adam Lambert<\/a> as their lead vocalist. Original frontman Freddie Mercury<\/a> died in 1991 of complications from AIDS at age 45. <\/p>\n

Queen last performed in the U.S. in 2023 as part of their Rhapsody Tour. As for May, he made a surprise appearance<\/a> during Benson Boone<\/a>\u2019s set at Coachella last year. <\/p>\n

In a 2024 interview with Rolling Stone<\/a> to mark the 50th anniversary of his band\u2019s classic song \u201cBohemian Rhapsody,\u201d May hinted at wanting to take some time off the road, but added that a Las Vegas residency was in consideration. <\/p>\n

\u201cI still want to play shows. I still want to innovate,\u201d he said at the time. \u201cI\u2019m very keen on the Sphere<\/a>. It\u2019s got my mind working. I sat there watching the Eagles<\/a>, thinking, \u2018We should do this. The stuff that we could bring to this would be stupendous.\u2019 So, yeah, I would like to do it. We\u2019re having conversations.\u201d<\/p>\n

Though May made no explicit mention of the U.S. political climate, Queen previously pushed back<\/a> against President Donald Trump<\/a>\u2019s unauthorized use of their 1977 smash, \u201cWe Will Rock You,\u201d at rallies. <\/p>\n

In his Daily Mail chat<\/a>, he acknowledged he wasn\u2019t sure when Queen would be back on stage, but also emphasized that he and his bandmates weren\u2019t considering retiring altogether at the moment. <\/p>\n
