Police said a 40-year-old man was found deceased at the 242nd Street subway station on Wednesday, Jan. 28, in Fieldston. It follows news of a double shooting close to the same location in the early hours of Sunday morning, Jan. 25, as reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n Police said that on Wednesday, Jan. 28, at around 11.36 a.m., officers from the 50th Precinct \/ Transit police responded to a 911 regarding an aided person at the Van Cortlandt Park subway station on the northbound \u201c1\u201d train.<\/p>\n \u201cUpon arrival, officers observed a 40-year-old male, unconscious and unresponsive on the train,\u201d a police spokesperson said, adding that EMS responded and pronounced the victim deceased on scene. \u201cThe Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will determine the cause of death,\u201d the spokesperson said. \u201cThe investigation is ongoing.\u201d<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n Police said the identity of the deceased is pending proper family notification. Meanwhile, an FDNY spokesperson said the department received a call at 11.38 a.m. on Wednesday for a report of a cardiac arrest (heart attack) at 5969 Broadway (R197) at\u00a0 242nd Street and Van Cortlandt Avenue in The Bronx, and that one person was found deceased on arrival at the scene.<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n A local resident had told Norwood News. \u201cRight at my station, they found a dead person. They haven\u2019t said much.\u201d The resident said it didn\u2019t appear to be related to the recent shooting at the station on Sunday. \u201cBut it\u2019s like oh my God! That just happened and now this,\u201d she said. \u201cI\u2019m not sure if the person froze, if it was a homeless person, I don\u2019t know.\u201d She said the area is usually safe.<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n \nTHE SCENE AT Broadway & 242nd Street the day after a double shooting in Kingsbridge 1\/25\/26 Part II.
