MILLERSBURG, Pa. (WHTM) \u2014 A local radio station is being sold to a religious broadcaster from New York.<\/p>\n

According to documents filed with the Federal Communications Commission, Millersburg-based 98.9 WQLV-FM is being sold to Family Life Ministries, of Bath, New York.<\/p>\n

An asset purchase agreement between Richard L. Cooper, owner of WQLV, and Family Life was signed Nov. 13 pending the transfer of the station\u2019s license to Family Life. The ministry is buying the station for $300,000.<\/p>\n

The license transfer was granted Monday and a \u201cnotification of consummation\u201d was filed Friday.<\/p>\n

According to the filings, Family Life plans to convert the station from a commercial operation to a non-commercial operation.<\/p>\n

WQLV currently broadcasts a hot adult contemporary music format and has studios on Union Street just off Market Square in Millersburg.<\/p>\n

Until a few years ago, the station broadcasted live sports from upper Dauphin, western Schuylkill, and Perry counties, among other local programs.<\/p>\n

It also sponsors events at the Gratz Fair and a holiday high school basketball tournament.<\/p>\n

Family Life broadcasts religious music and programs through a network of full-power FM radio stations and translators across upstate New York and Pennsylvania, with the nearest being in Lewisburg and Shenandoah. WQLV would be Family Life\u2019s first station in the Midstate.<\/p>\n
