Archdiocesan Championships. <\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"AXQAF55RLJFFRLHDFG77R6ZTTI\">On Thursday night, at the recently re-scheduled NY\/BQ Sectional Championships at Ocean Breeze, a balanced Sea squad was able to upend defending champion Monsignor Scanlan of the Bronx.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"5CLPTZK3DRDJ5GOAP3PKAT7SVM\">Sea won the team title for the third time in four years by scoring 65 points. <\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"JBZMHFI7ONB4BB6KZGLSOXKYPI\">Scanlan (55) and Notre Dame Academy (32) placed second and third overall. Moore Catholic (sixth, 12) and St. Joseph Hill (seventh, nine) rounded out the scoring from the Island.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"JD6YSZ2CK5AO3PEZTGYBIYATZM\">\u201cI\u2019m thrilled with how the girls competed tonight; we had personal bests all over the place and ran three seasonal best times in the three relays while using 11 different kids,\u201d said Sea coach Chris Mancusi. \u201cWe pride ourselves on being able to cover the board and I think that was the key to victory.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"TH2EGTEAIBBEVBHY6DG6WLJ7BU\">In the combined NY\/BQ city championship scoring, Bishop Loughlin emerged the winner by 2.5 points topping the Vikings, 48-45 1\/2.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"YC2PJHZYBZC77HYDNIZQ6FNUWU\">The Island was well represented with city championship wins from Sea\u2019s Keira Lavezzoli (high jump &#8211; 4\u2032-6), Eva Maira (triple jump -32\u2032-7.5) and Mariam Azer (pole vault &#8211; 8\u2032-0)<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"QICUFEITH5HGNF2IGKTVC4U2ZY\">Notre Dame\u2019s Shiloh Holman was a runaway winner in the 1,000, stopping the clock in 3:15.63<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"LSXOYD4TJ5EOPECZILJ6DXOK6Q\">Sea\u2019s Giuliana Collegio added a pair of silver medals in the 3,000 (10:59.75) and 1,500 (5:11.50)<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"VZGG4APD2RFXBHC5WVJB6Y5OEY\">The Vikings 4&#215;200 of Kaelyn Carroll, Isabella McCumiskey, Eva Maira and Abby Walz took third place, combining to run 1:51.47.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"YEB5RGDYD5GR3KIRHPHUX3J35A\">NDA\u2019s Olivia Casas took second overall in the 55 hurdles (9.36) as did Jenna Zanelli in the shot put (28\u2032-4). Teammate Savanna Rice added a third-place medal in the 600 meters (1:42.91)<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"XCSNP7UVK5EPPNYXUXLN2PEMS4\">St Joseph Hill\u2019s Kirsten Harper took second in the 55 meters (7.41)<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"FUQOEGYEDVCFLBHRB2PZFFBS4M\">Boys AA City Championship Recap<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"A53XI4OTHVE6ZCEZKV3GQDFG24\">Viking senior Adam Vitale unleashed a dramatic kick to win the 1,000 meters in a personal best of 2:31.95 to take the gold. Three hours later, the senior took third in the 1,600 in yet another personal best (4:21.96).<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"GTAJAOZNGNDZTBLQA2ZA4TLP54\">Teammate Jace Lawless took second (6.61) and Farrell\u2019s Kevin Gumb placed third (6.66) in the 55 meters.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"QQ3JQH42ORGOLLVGOUIDJOVDDM\">Viking junior Chris Perez just missed winning the 600 meters, losing at the tape settling for second place in 1:22.96. <\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"B44MONYHYVGVJAFZWSAYY3LLSQ\">Sea\u2019s Jason Sarnciola was third in the 3,200 breaking a four-year school record with a time of 9:29.73. The previous record was held by Dylan Doskocil from 2022 (9:35.08). <\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"2IG3YHETK5CE3A46NF7TKBEEPU\">Sarnciola would later team with Perez, Michael Pira and Michael Scalfani to take second in the 4&#215;800 (8:30.32).<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"ZTFU2YZVYFGAFLAKX3RZDQG3ZM\">\u201cBetween the weather and not seeing the kids during midterms it\u2019s a tough time of the year but the boys really stepped up; I\u2019m hoping we are running our best in late February\/March,\u201d said Mancusi, who doubles as Sea\u2019s boys\u2019 coach. <\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"QATVAGGYOJHQDIZU3RGNCDJJKU\">Farrell\u2019s 4&#215;200 relay of Jimmy Martinez, Joseph Silvestro, Kevin Gumb and Gianni Pasqualone combined to run 1:33.43 for bronze medals. <\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"C4QLUPE7DRAYXPKHBFMZODTF2I\">The Lion\u2019s Carlodella Ragione placed third in the shotput, throwing 41 feet, one and 1\/2 inch. <\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"LLMNONUQL5CA5DIA3GE7FAJ6NY\">Fordham Prep won the city title with 55.5 points. Sea led the Island teams with a fifth-place finish, scoring 27 points. Farrell scored 28 points for seventh overall. <\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"MKTLVVJS55F3PP447GMUX6MYCE\">Boys A City Championship Recap<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"YVU4QTMT4JGIRPZYDXFGJRY4HA\">Regis was a runaway winner in the team standings with 59 points. Locally, a tight battle was for second place with Moore Catholic (31 points) topping St. Peter\u2019s (29).
