{"id":119398,"date":"2026-02-02T00:11:09","date_gmt":"2026-02-02T00:11:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/119398\/"},"modified":"2026-02-02T00:11:09","modified_gmt":"2026-02-02T00:11:09","slug":"off-duty-nyc-correction-officer-sideswiped-nypd-vehicle-taxi-while-drunk-da","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/119398\/","title":{"rendered":"Off-duty NYC correction officer sideswiped NYPD vehicle, taxi while drunk: DA"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">An off-duty city correction officer drunkenly crashed into a marked NYPD vehicle and a taxi in East Harlem, according to cops.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">LeShelle Hallett, 34, was driving a black 2020 Infiniti on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/maps\/place\/E+120th+St+%26+3rd+Ave,+New+York,+NY+10035\/data=!4m2!3m1!1s0x89c2f6084d5ba509:0xadad7858f32abc22?sa=X&amp;ved=1t:242&amp;ictx=111\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:Third Ave. near 120th St.;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">Third Ave. near 120th St.<\/a> when she tried to pass both vehicles, sideswiping them in the process, according to a criminal complaint.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">She kept going uptown on Third Ave. until police stopped her, the complaint alleges.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">\u201cI haven\u2019t had enough to not know how to drive, unlike them,\u201d she said, apparently referring to the other drivers, to the officer who arrested her, the complaint alleges.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">But a test put her blood alcohol level at .207%, more than 2\u00bd times the legal threshold for driving while intoxicated, the complaint alleges.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Hallett was arraigned Sunday in Manhattan Criminal Court on charges including leaving the scene of a crash and aggravated driving while intoxicated.
