STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. \u2014 Staten Island residents can expect mainly dry but cold conditions through Thursday with temperatures generally remaining below freezing. <\/p>\n
The National Weather Service forecasts a brief period of minor tidal flooding for Monday morning\u2019s high tide cycle in some areas of Southern Queens and Nassau County.<\/p>\n
According to the National Weather Service, an arctic front will move through the area on Friday, bringing a chance for light snow and ushering in another round of frigid air for the weekend. Wind chills are expected to drop below zero across all areas Friday night, then plummet to between 10 and 20 degrees below zero Saturday night.<\/p>\n
Monday will see northwest winds of 10-15 mph with gusts around 20 mph during the day, diminishing by evening. Temperatures will remain below freezing throughout the day. Tuesday night may bring a few flurries or snow showers as an upper trough passes through the area, potentially leaving a dusting in some locations.<\/p>\n
The cold weather pattern will persist through midweek with Thursday remaining dry before Friday\u2019s approaching system. The National Weather Service notes that Friday\u2019s snow is expected to be mainly light, followed by possible snow showers Saturday as the arctic air mass settles in.<\/p>\n
Weekend conditions will be particularly harsh with the frigid temperatures accompanied by strong winds. Northwest gusts on Saturday could approach wind advisory criteria with 45-50 mph winds possible at higher elevations.<\/p>\n
