But it’s really my story, you know, a kid growing up in Queens that wanted to play music, and come into the city where all the clubs were at a young age. And then getting to do that for a while and going from CBGBs to Madison Square Garden,” said Malin, who first performed with the New York hardcore band Heart Attack, and then with the glam punk group D Generation, before going solo in the early 2000s.

Malin tells those stories and recalls the rare spinal stroke he suffered in May 2023, which left him paralyzed below the waist. He has been fighting back ever since, including triumphant comeback performances at the Beacon Theatre in December 2024.

“Silver Manhattan” will now be staged at Bowery Palace, a new 100-seat theatre and live music venue, formerly Bowery Electric. Malin says Bowery Palace will continue to be a live music venue, as well as acting as an off-Broadway theatre.

“The train had left the station with us doing the seven shows. You just learn you are kind of tightening things up, and it’s really a pleasure to work with a whole team like this, with such good people and everybody fighting for this, to help me tell this story, which is so personal, but the idea is that anyone can relate.
